Update: Not Fully Vegan Anymore - Edit
Update: As per their Instagram, the Volstead is shutting down July 15th to reopen as a restaurant with vegan, vegetarian, and omni options. Unfortunately, this abandonment of all ethics is pretty disappointing, and I won’t be returning. Really a shame, I liked this place. Good Luck.
Read moreOriginal Review: Really, really amazing. I don’t like the taste of alcohol or the feeling of being tipsy, so finding a place that has a full vegan non-alcoholic bar was a dream! You can even buy bottles of the “liquor” to take home. The food was also fantastic and extremely filling. PLUS they pay a living wage to their waiters! And any extra tips go to the back of house too! Afterwards, you can take a walk at the local park right nearby😄I can’t recommend this place enough.

A must!!! - Edit
Came here for the first time for my birthday dinner, everything was PHENOMENAL. The bacon tator tots were to die for, our server was the absolute nicest friendliest guy (David), and the vibe was welcoming and quaint.

Delicious completely vegan meal with zero alcohol! - Edit
I am a non drinker so it was amazing to be able to order a drink with the zero proof alcohol and that was just the start of our meal! We had the Caulimash, Isle of The Sun and Cheeseste’k fried pickles, onion rings sweet potato wedges and every single one was simply delicious. The milkshake was delicious too! Our server was simply awesome! I highly recommend going there!

Great place, but I can't afford it - Edit
This place is awesome. Ambiance is great, food is delicious, staff is above and beyond friendly. I love the non alcoholic bar (and I'm not someone who doesn't drink -- the drinks are just legitimately delicious!). I almost never go here though, and it's because the price is kind of ridiculous. I just can't afford it. We get apps here and it costs what a full meal would elsewhere. I love the Unity brand and the staff and the food, but people need to be able to afford to go :(

It’s okay. - Edit
Quite expensive food. Not much ambiance. Not sure drinks with alcohol words (eg, whiskey) throughout the descriptions is a great idea. I don’t need or want a place that feels like a bar. I’d give it a second chance … maybe.

Vegan filet mignon. What else is there to say? - Edit
I’m so glad I found this place! I’d been wanting to try the Juicy Marbles filet mignon and it finally happened here! It was the steakhouse dinner of my vegan dreams - delicious steak with mushroom cream sauce, asparagus, and garlic mashed potatoes. The burrata was also good, but more of a tangy hummus than burrata. While I do drink, I really like their sober mission. The cocktail I had was pretty good, if a little sweet. Service was great and I will definitely be back next time I’m in the area!

Vegan lunch - Edit
Delicious and filling lunch at restaurant with a terrific community focused mission. We didn’t have an issue with the cost of our meal knowing they pay their staff a living wage. Our server was helpful and mentioned the brunch menu. We will be returning to eat here again.

Good breakfast, many other options - Edit
Stopped for brunch and enjoyed the plant-based Filet Mignon & Scramble with a cup of Irish coffee. The portions were generous and I couldn't finish everything but it was great. Service was friendly as well. They have a great menu for both brunch and lunch/dinner.

So good! - Edit
My husband and I visited for dinner tonight and it was so good! My husband had the filet mignon and I had the braised short ribs. Both were amazing. The short ribs were SO tender! I never had filet mignon before going vegan, but the vegan version was pretty tasty! I also love the fact that they serve non alcoholic drinks! I dont drink so it was nice to have a cocktail with dinner. The menu is a little pricey, but the food is delicious and the staff were all really nice. We will be back!

We kept ordering drinks! - Edit
4.5 stars for me. We came for the vegan food but had fun trying no-alcohol wine and spirits, a thing we had not experienced before. Very interesting concept, though I love my wine. The building is vertical with an upstairs dining room up a long set of stairs with the bar below right when you walk in. There are outside tables too.
Read moreWatch out -- the portion of tempura veggies is huge. We ate the whole thing though as well as the incredible crab cakes with garlic mayo sauce. We split the scallop dish which was served over quinoa mashed sweet potatoes, what a great idea to mix these flavors. We were too full for dessert, but it looked good over on the next table.
I got to try a martini, red wine, and a cocktail, priced similarly to their alcohol versions. I feared overly-sweet drinks, but that was not the case, and the bartender can adjust the sweetness, though that may reduce flavor. Bartender gave samples too. This is a wonderful concept for people in recovery or those taking a break from alcohol. I understand. We took home a small bottle of the bourbon, an adorable upscale bottle. I wonder if this is a trend that will grow. Our bill was high because we kept ordering more drinks to try, but I believe in splurging when in an all-vegan restaurant and only eat in omni places when I cannot avoid it. This restaurant provides jobs to people in recovery as well, a wonderful mission. Note that street parking is free on Sundays in Manayunk.
Pros: Non-alcohol upscale drinks, Wonderful food w/ large portions

Got takeout from here, so we didn't get the full experience, but the food was great! The best thing was only on special (Bangers and sweet potato Mash for St. Patrick's Day) but everything was well done. Highly recommend!

Fancy and tasty vegan food - Edit
We got the blackened tempeh steak, sweet potatoe gnocchi, and candied Brussels. Food was delicious. Owner said hello. Staff very nice. Lots of drink options. It was a great experience. I was too full to order dessert but can’t wait to go back.
