Great find in Casco Viejo - Edit
We had dinner and returned for lunch the next day. Enjoyed the tofu scramble platter, breakfast sandwich (breakfast orders all day ), abundance bowl, lentil quinoa bowl, papaya -banana drink and cappuccino. Friendly owners and fresh food. Loved the sauces and side salads.

I had the chunky monkey shake and the breakfast burrito. I also tried the attraction hamburgers. Everything tasted (and was) homemade. It was nice to have a full vegan menu, as options in this city can be limited.

Maybe I had high expectations because it’s supposed to be one of the best place on this app. The vibe was weird, the staff wasn’t very friendly. I thought a vegan restaurant was supposed to be eco friendly but not here, the AC was very strong with the double door wide open. I had the breakfast tofu sandwich which looks way better in pictures. The bread was more moist than crispy, I had the paste of pesto only on one third, the taste was just blend. When I went to pay, in addition to be written on the check/receipt, the waitress asks if you want to add tips. Everybody knows that they can tip at restaurants, if they want to, no need to write it and ask for it.

The Vegan Shack feels like home… only better. It is very stylish and welcoming. We had a smoothie and a café latte for beverages, and this was the best café latte that I’ve had in my 2 weeks in Panama. I was craving oatmeal, and it was hearty with lots of fruit that laid beautifully on top. The avocado toast and tofu scramble were also delicious. Their service was wonderful, especially the little dog, Peque. ❤️

Tomamos un batido y un café latte para tomar bebidas, y este fue el mejor café con leche (de soja) que he probado en mis 2 semanas en Panamá. Tenía antojos de avena, y era abundante con mucha fruta que quedaba maravillosamente encima. La tostada de aguacate y el revuelto de tofu también estaban deliciosos. Su servicio fue maravilloso, especialmente el perrito, Peque.

Cute restaurant tucked into a side street in Casco Viejo. The owner was very kind and spoke perfect English. We ordered the spring salad, cozy in a bowl (oatmeal), watermelon lemonade, and cappuccino. Very much enjoyed the food and the watermelon lemonade was delightfully refreshing after being out in the heat.

Yummy vegan dinner - Edit
Just enjoyed dinner here tonight with hubby and toddlers. They have an all day breakfast menu, smoothies, bowls, burgers, and desserts. Tonight's options for dessert were peanut butter chocolate pie or peanut butter energy balls, so we tried the pie (really good!/chilled). We also tried the pink drink (loved this, not too sweet and toddlers devoured it), lentil burger(comes with fries and 3 sliders. This was awesome but the vegan chipotle mayo sauce is likely too spicy for a toddler but perfect for adults!), Breakfast burrito (filled with tofu, pesto sauce, rice, beans, etc and was a huge hit with the toddlers too. The same vegan chipotle mayo sauce comes on the side so adults can enjoy it!). We also had avocado toast which one toddler did not like the tahini sauce drizzle on top and the other toddler devoured it 😂. Service was wonderful and our bill was $50 USD FYI.

I was a HAPPY COW in Panama - Edit
Increíble filling. The simple flavors mixed beautifully in the classic slider with avocado added truly hit the spot. The Health Freak beverage topped off the full effect tastefully. And for dessert to go, I have decided to allow the Panamanian staff personally select how to remember this journey between rice pudding or chocolate peanut butter pie. And because it was so difficult to choose between each one, I decided to collect both so each evening is filled.

Veggie burgers best - Edit
This review is so it won’t happen to you - I didn’t know - I felt so lame after ordering the wrong thing - and I could have had one of those veg burgers - EvERYONE else in the packed place was having - all the guests were singing praises and there I was - with my simple bowl feeling so disappointed ! So if you go get the veg burger or sandwiches for lunch !

The food here is fresh, balanced, and healthier than most places (including the gluten free waffle). Although a little on the pricey side, the portions were reasonable too, oh, and the bread on the tofu plate is incredible!

I had a great sandwich with the chickpea mix patty. The watermelon lemonade was also delicious and refreshing. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Prices are a little up there but I think on par for the area and for what you get.

The place is nice and cozy, in the heart of Casco Viejo, and as of today the only 100% vegan place in this part of the city. I visited a few times and had: 2 bowls, the avocado toast, the scramble tofu breakfast dish, and a sandwich to take out. Overall, the food is good and tasty, but it is not mind-blowing, and unfortunately too pricey.
Read moreThe overcharge is not justified, for instance, by using extremely rare ingredients, or by the size of the dish. The same papaya smoothie you will find everywhere in the Casco Viejo at 4$, here it is smaller and costs 5$, and so forth. I had very few veggies in the noodles with peanut sauce bowl and only 4 tofu cubes (1 cm3 each). The dish was basically just noodles for around 13/14 dollars (+17% in taxes and tips).
I want to support vegan businesses, but I dislike when they seem more interested in being a place for "elites" instead of trying to offer tasty, healthy, and cruelty-free food to the majority of people.
