Poor service, poor options

Booked a table a week ahead as we were travelling to the area. Advised at time of booking that we are vegan. Had seen vegan menu and good reviews online.

On arrival the table was sticky, glasses weren't clean and multiple tables in the pub needed clearing.

Looked at the menu and the only VG option was soup for starter and then a carrot &fennel pie.

Asked the waitress if there are an other options and the reply was 'no'.

Really unimpressed and disappointed as had been really looking forward to trying the food there.

We left without even having a drink.

Lovely pub food and good choice

I have been to The Top Pub several times over the past year or so and have always been impressed by the range and variety of options - they cater well to vegans and vegetarians and are creative, adding options such as arancini and Mediterranean inspired dishes to vegan versions of more traditional pub food such as pies, roast dinners and lasagne. They always have at least a couple of vegan options for dessert and starters and often include them on the specials too. The staff are well informed about what is suitable for vegans and they are happy to modify some dishes on the menu to make them vegan friendly. It’s a lovely friendly pub with a nice warm atmosphere and very reasonably priced. They are currently running a slightly reduced menu due to COVID-19 but there is still plenty to choose from!

Pros: Good range of options , Reasonably priced , Good quality vegan pub food

Cons: Menu is currently slightly reduced due to COVID
