I would give this five stars if they didn’t serve meat! - Edit
We love to try different restaurants when we travel. The only requirement is that there are vegan options. Sometimes this just ends up being a salad with the chicken removed. The Studio had multiple, fabulous vegan options in every category! The stand out in the appetizer category was a “meat” pie that was encrusted in pillowy dough so light and crispy that I almost canceled the rest of my meal to order more of them. The main course consisted of a “Hippie loaf” and a decadent cheese ravioli and other things I can’t even remember now. I think I’m still in the food, the next day! There was so much food that I had to get that part of the meal to go. Both of our mains were absolutely fantastic! We have had vegan food and all of the major cities in the US and quite a few cities in Europe, and these were easily in the top of the list!
Read moreBut then we had the dessert !!!
Even restaurants who have nice vegan dinners typically only provide a little lump of sorbet at the end of the meal for vegans. This restaurant had three main desserts. We ordered two of them to share. One was the richest chocolate tart I have ever experienced! It was so good that I ate the rest of it, even though I felt a little nauseous from being too full! The second one was a perfect blueberry crumb cake with ice cream, which was also perfect!!
As we were leaving, we talked to the owner and her husband who is also the chef. They are such a lovely people. She explained to us that they are vegan and all of a sudden it all made sense. Of course they were! People who are not vegan don’t typically make these kind of amazing meals for us. Thank you guys so much. We will be back when we are here!
Pros: Very large selection of vegan choices in every cat, Real actual vegan desserts, Knowledgeable staff

So Many Vegan Options and Great Service - Edit
This restaurant offers so many delicious-looking vegan options that it was hard to choose just one. I started with the Buffalo Cauliflower appetizer and the Pot Licka entrée. Both were amazing. They also have multiple vegan desserts; I chose the Blueberry Crumb Cake, which was delicious. Another thing I must point out is that the staff here is more attentive than at any other restaurant I’ve been to. Overall, this restaurant has a wide variety of options for vegans and exceptionally attentive service.

Loved everything about this place. The service was excellent, the vibe was cool and intimate, and the food was some of the best vegan food I’ve ever had. Even though they serve non-vegan food, there is a big emphasis on the vegan food. It’s pricey, but that feels right for a place as special as this.

This is the best restaurant I have ever been to. I’m sad I can’t give it 5 stars. The menu is given such care with its curation. The staff and environment is phenomenal. I just loved it. I wish more places were like this. Yes it is pricey, but the food experience was well worth it.

We love coming to The Studio for an upscale dining experience without pretension. The many vegan options are always stellar, and they even serve nooch with their bread service. Best place for a vegan to celebrate a special event on the island! Staff are very knowledgeable. Be sure to make a reservation online if you plan to go!

Best Food I Have Ever Tasted - Edit
They have the most delicious vegan food literally ever. Their vegan Mac and cheese especially tasted like real cheese!! Probably the most expensive restaurant I've ever been to, but 1,000% worth the splurge.

We come to Hilton Head every year but never knew about The Studio. Thank you Happy Cow!
Read moreWe are vegan and it turns out that roughly a third of the menu is vegan. It is clearly indicated and the very personable staff helped us feel totally comfortable. In fact it was almost like being a guest in their home, well, their studio, where they cook gourmet vegan food.
Vegan bread with olive oil and nutritional yeast is a wonderful treat.
I had the Pad Thai which was uniquely subtle and flavorful. (I ordered it mild.)
Wife had a Mediterranean dish (I don’t remember what it was called). She loved it, and I had a few bites as well. Very tasty! Again, fresh and subtle. The food and ambience were that of the finest gourmet restaurants. This is a rare experience for vegans, and much welcomed.
I can’t give it 5 stars because the app won’t let me (not exclusively vegetarian or vegan), but it is a 5 star experience for vegans visiting Hilton Head. And a great way to celebrate our 42 anniversary!

Worth so many stars! - Edit
We were able to get a last minute reservation while on the island, and it was amazing! I would drive the two days to get here again just for this food. Clear vegan options, knowledgeable staff, and a beautiful atmosphere in an eclectic setting made for an exquisite dining experience. They even had three vegan desserts! And an all vegan bread basket! Their menu is incredible, for vegans and omnis alike. The service was beyond great! Go-you must!

This is the best vegan food I have ever tasted. I would give 5 stars if the app allowed me to for this restaurant. This is a new favorite.

Wonderful vegan options in Hilton Head - Edit
Hilton Head doesn’t have a lot of vegan options, but this menu is roughly 1/3 vegan! It was perfect for our family of 12 because everyone loved it. It’s also an art studio if you’re looking to purchase local art! The menu is more expensive but the vegan portions are large and definitely doable to share to help with the bill. The music was similar to a spa and it was pretty dark inside which made our conversations feel loud, but we got used to it quick and it wouldn’t deter me from going back if I could! 😍

Definitely a must try for vegans in HH! - Edit
I loved everything about this place! The people were just amazing… All of them! They were very knowledgeable about the menu and helping us choose vegan options. The owner and chef is a vegan so he knows what he’s doing. There were many options to choose from, which is a delight for a vegan here in Hilton head, where most restaurants only have one option if any! We sat on that beautiful outdoor patio, and it was quiet and lovely. The service was excellent.. Ask them if they have the bread pudding with ice cream. Sooooooo good! My friend had pad Thai and I really enjoyed the Jamaican jerk chick’n over lentils. The Caesar salad was also fantastic, and they were great about allowing us to split it. The prices were a bit high, but you get what you pay for, and we felt like it was worth every penny! I will go back and eat at this restaurant every single time I’m in town!

Not a 5 star for me anymore - Edit
Used to love this restaurant. Great vegan options and their vegan Mac and cheese was the best. Sadly, they’ve started using Impossible and Beyond products instead of making things from scratch. The Hippy Loaf isn’t quinoa based anymore; it’s made with Impossible products. And, you could get their delicious Mac and Cheese as a side. No more. You can only get it with the Hippy Loaf or their Chick-un main course. I’m not into plant based products that feel and taste like meat products. They do have other main course vegan options but for various reasons, not worth it for me. Sad that a place that once was an innovative restaurant and one of the only Vegan friendly fine dining options in the area has now gone the way of “fake meat products.”

Maybe I didn’t understand the extent to which you were going when you said “upscale.” My hippie loaf was phenomenal, as was the vegan chocolate torte, but everything else was severely lacking.
Read more1 refill per drink unless you pay for a whole new soda charge. My niece says the soda tastes like old [censored] funk (perhaps the squirter needs cleaning out?).
No soups or salads. And the prices start at $30.
My husband was told to put his jacket on. He was wearing a tank top. What if we’d been here in summer as opposed to fall? He wouldn’t have brought a jacket. Meanwhile, I had on a tank top, and no one said anything. No children’s menu. They counted my 12 year old nephew and 14 year old niece as adults to require us to automatically tip. The food took forever. No changing table in the restroom, so I had to put my toddler on the restroom floor to change her!
And then pay a whole car payment for the bill.
I’m conflicted as I leave disappointed but well fed.
Pros: That vegan torte! , The hippie loaf
Cons: Expensive , Takes forever , Discriminated against my husband

Amazing! - Edit
My husband and I went out to eat here for his birthday - I'm vegan and he is not - and we both had incredible food. Probably half of the menu was vegan, which is not always the case at higher end restaurants. I ordered the buffalo cauliflower and vegetable Pad Thai. Such huge portions I had to get a to-go box (but no complaints, because I got to have it again today!). He ordered the vegan mulligatawny soup and I snuck a bite - DELICIOUS! We will definitely go back the next time we are on the island. Creative, elegant, beautiful food, but not small portions at all. I highly recommend it!

Amazing Vegan Menu - Edit
Lots of Vegan options, and the chef and his wife, our hostess, were both vegans. We had the buffalo cauliflower bites and the spring rolls for an app and they were delicious. My husband had the eggplant jambalaya and was blown away with the portion size and wide array of flavors. I had the Caribbean gnocchi and I found out the gnocchi are homemade on site. They were the best I had ever had. We got our dessert to go because we were so full- a great compliment to the chef!
