Small portions - Edit
We watched the next table to us get their order of omni food, and they had large portions and the food looked good even though they had meat options. My partner and I shared a starter and ordered 2 mains, the starter a mushroom pasty was tasty. But £5.75 When the mains came out we near burst out laughing at the size of the food, a large plate with a small burger and a small pot with lettuce and onion, which will set you back £12.75 and still be hungry. I ordered the squash curry which was lovely but again half the plate had some rocket and cress leaves. So we left the Stretton fox hungry and on way home we stopped off at the coop bought some bread to have marmite on toast when home. And bottle of wine and dark chocolate to compensate 😂 We won’t be eating here again.

I’ve enjoyed coming to the S.F. for many years. Not been for a while, and this was my first return as a vegan.
Read moreI enjoy the pub/restaurant itself. Potentially having a slightly tired look, but I still enjoy it. Good choices on the vegan menu, and I must say that my main (burger) and dessert (pecan tart) tasted lovely. The sauce that came with the burger was gorgeous. Thought the main was a bit small, but this is something I find we have to face eating vegan food - why are all the vegan options smaller in size than the non-vegan options? Nevertheless, tasted very nice. Tasted like it was prepared on the premises, which is great.
Great, friendly service.
Will definitely return.
Update - visited a year later (Oct 2019) and the interior of the pub has been significantly improved. It’s really nice in here now, extremely cosy and very tastefully decorated. Still have a vegan menu. Food is good, not excellent, but definitely worth coming back. Very friendly service.
Update. December 2019. Awful. Vegan burger was tiny, was burned, chips / fries are not vegan (only vegetarian) so no side, side salad was dry, service was moody. Single burned tiny burger with dry salad = £13. Disgraceful.
Pros: Separate vegan menu, Great tasting food, Eating next to open fires
Cons: Slightly small portions

Great selection of food. - Edit
A great range of meals to choose from. It's always good to find somewhere with more than a couple of vegan options. There are also some good deserts.
