Disappointing - Edit
Obviously came at a bad time because when we went they didn't have the Sunday lunch menu (which I mentioned when I made the reservation and they didn't tell me it wasn't on) and 3 of the options on the main menu weren't available. Chicken burger was OK but quite dry, wouldn't rush back

Really decent vegan pub. Desserts nice.
Read moreStaff a bit unwelcoming sadly and a bit standoffish. (Asked what desserts available and she pointed in a general direction of a totally unlabelled fridge) Maybe an off day.
Pros: Great choice and innovative dishes , Cosy pub with a good atmosphere, board games , Really good food
Cons: Staff a bit cold

Love this place - Edit
Go often. Apart from the food it’s got a cracking wood burner and staropraman and Pravda. Menu rotates a bit which is good but bad - used to have the Hawaiian burger but they’ve stopped doing it. Had a fiery chorizo hot dog last time in but it was only on special - a shame as it was beautiful. Chips are proper chips too. Lovely.

Love it. - Edit
Everything here is vegan and it's amazing. I have really missed fish and chips for the last 10years and this place did not disappoint. It's the most realistic fish and chips I've had and was an absolute life saver. Such a cosy, relaxing environment with friendly and approachable staff. Drinks are a tad expensive but it's the same with every pub these days.

Food standards started to slip - Edit
It was our favourite vegan place for a while. But last two visits food was not great at all. The very last time we visited we pretty much left our plates full. I am not sure if there was a recent change in kitchen staff or in recipes. Food was very bland, customer service wasn’t great either. The girl who served us did not seem to be in control and was taking orders without following who was at the bar first. My partner waited for ages while people who joined the waiting queue after him got served first. Maybe it was just a busy day. But now that same thing happened twice I don’t think we will go back unfortunately.

My family and I (from Los Angeles) were touring the UK and had a wonderful visit at The Ship Inn! The bar tender/server was so sweet! And the tofu fish & chips were delicious!

Great food, great location - Edit
The food was super good, i had miso noodles with mushrooms, corn and sugar snaps. There were many great dishes to choose from. The atmosphere was very laidback and it is a nice location. We went to a concert at the cluny after having a dinner at the ship inn, which is just across the street. I could recommend that as well!

Really good food slow service - Edit
The fish and chips was great. They have lots of outdoor seating. Staff are friendly. My food took 40 minutes in arriving. It was a busy day but still! Apart from that everything was great.

Great lunch in relaxed spot - Edit
Visiting Newcastle for work and stayed on to do some sightseeing, This pub is in a lovely relaxed spot in the Ouseburn Valley. You would not know you were in a large city with the farm, riding stables and village green in front. We enjoyed 'fish and chips', tacos and nanchos. They were making a lot of effort to cook from scratch with the tacos freshly made (not from a packet). Well presenting and freshly cooked - thoroughly recommend it.

Best vegan fish I’ve had yet! - Edit
I ate at the Ship Inn last night with my partner and we both loved it. High quality, tasty food and well presented. Looking forward to returning soon. I had fish and chips and a massive slice of Victoria sponge cake, which were both the best of their kind that I’ve had since being vegan.

Excellent Sunday roast - Edit
Only experienced the Sunday roast which despite taking a long time to arrive (it was really busy) was well worth the wait. I’ve heard only good things about the food here. Try it out!

Unbelievable vegan food - Edit
Came here today as was up from Leeds. Got a selection of food with my friend Blown away by it! The cauli bites, salt and pepper chips (chunky) and curry were insanely good. The jackfruit wrap was so well spiced with brilliant extras. Tofu was lovely. Have worked in street food and could taste that everything was fresh and well made. Managed to say thanks to the chef Rachel who was lovely! Go here!

Disappointed 😞 - Edit
Having wanted to go here for ages I finally had the perfect opportunity, my wife's Birthday, so we made the trek from Carlisle (1hr) and got there for opening at 12! The place looks great and the menu was full of delicious sounding stuff, as was the massive board outside! So we all chose ( 5 of us) and placed the order👍 After an hours wait ( they were very busy) our meals slowly started arriving, the first 3 came and then nothing!! 10 minutes passed and it was then we were told the burgers we had chosen of the big board were not actually being served 🤔🤔 Very sadly it was my wife that had chosen the burger so no birthday meal for her 😭😭 In fairness we were offered compensation in the form of a round of drinks, but as we had pretty much finished our meal and we all drinking cordial this seemed pointless! We did however take their offer of free brownie ( of which they brought 2!!!)! The food was OK, the place was nice, but it was an unfortunate disappointment 😕

Heavy pub food - Edit
The food isn’t to my taste but I love visiting this pub. One of the owners has such a cute dog who is always roaming about for food. I have tried the nachos here and they were very good with homemade cheese. Some of the food has been much to spicy for me, like the kimchi rice and salt and pepper chips but i’m sure some would appreciate this.
