Good vegan burger

We only tried the vegan burger and it was truly delicious. They are generous with miso, that’s what we like ! 😄

Pros: Burger, Staff trying to help

Lovely good, good atmosphere

Met some friends here for lunch on New Year’s Day. Lovely food, good option for me being vegan and gluten free. I had the large nut roast with a sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Lovely staff, good atmosphere. My only suggestion would be for there to be more veg.

Pros: Vegan but roast, Vegan dessert

Cons: Only one vegan option, Needs more veg

Well done to The Salamander!

We've eaten in The Salamander twice recently.

First time was for a vegan Sunday lunch. The food was excellent, an individual mixed bean roast with (almost) all the trimmings. The roast potatoes were superb, really crispy and a selection of seasonal veg. No vegan Yorkshire puddings though, but not many places have managed that yet! On the day, the portion of gravy was almost embarrassingly small, but they were happy to replenish. There staff were wonderful and really interested in feedback which was given around yorky puds and gravy portion.

The other time we visited was a vegan only evening put on especially for the local vegan group. This was a three course dinner with choices for each course. I think it was giving the kitchen staff an opportunity to try some vegan dishes.

Again the food was excellent. It was quality food full of interesting tastes and textures. This is real food, not something cooked in a factory and heated up in the pub like you get elsewhere.

Full marks to the kitchen.

I understand they always have vegan options on the menu, but with a couple of days notice they will increase the choice on the day you visit.

Thoroughly recommend this place, let us hope they get enough vegan trade to keep the options on the menu.

An ideal location if you need to eat with carnists too.

Pros: Quality food, Vegan beers and wines known and offered
