Vegan fish and chips - Edit
I didn’t enjoy the banana blossom fish and chips that much - it wasn’t flavoured with anything (please add nori!!) and was very greasy. Nice chips and tartare sauce. A very generous portion. Padron peppers were good. Birra Moretti served (regular and non alcoholic).

No more banana blossom! - Edit
Butternut squash was quite good as far as butternut squash goes. There's also a pea and feta bruschetta starter and a raspberry ripple ice cream.

OMG, this was so good! The chips were perfect and the banana blossom fish with tartare sauce was awesome. Loved the old big pub with a view on the harbour.

Best vegan meal for a long time - Edit
I loved everything about this place. It is a historic building but best of all the vegan options are clearly labelled.
Read moreI had the banana blossom ‘fish’ and chips. It was delicious and the chips were superb. It came with vegan tartare sauce, peas and lemon. For dessert I chose ruby orange sorbet. The flavour was out of this world.
You could choose the portion size of your main course which is great as it meant no wasted food.
Pros: Well cooked tasty food, Excellent service, Historic building
Cons: More vegan options would have been even better

Excellent Vegan Fish & Chips - Edit
Stumbled upon this place during our visit to Dartmouth. Excited to see that The Royal Castle offered a few vegan options.. as well as a children’s menu with vegan options too! My wife and I didn’t hesitate to try the Vegan Fish & Chips. The “fish” was battered and coated with seaweed to accentuate the seafood taste. The restaurant used banana blossom to recreate a very delicious type of vegan cod. My daughter had food from the children’s menu - vegan sausages, mashed potatoes and baked beans; also very tasty.

Pros: Vegan options, Children’s menu with vegan options , Very delicious fish and chips
Cons: Could use more vegan dessert options
