Still dreaming of the vegan curry - Edit
Visiting from MA and needed a dog-friendly place for mixed company. We ate on the roof deck which was so cute. A handful of vegan items on the menu (HINT: there’s tips for veganizing non-vegan menu items after item descriptions). I decided to go with the Hearty Vegan Curry which I’m still thinking about a few days later!

From Wholly Unimpressed 2022 to Impressed 2024 - Edit
2024 Review: The Roost has 100% done a turnaround from earlier offerings I've received. The mustard broccoli appetizer is CRAVE WORTHY. The squash cauliflower is FILLING. The Korean bowl is refreshing! I highly recommend the non-burger options at The Roost, which are labeled as Vegan!
Read moreLate 2022 Review: Got the Cauliflower Wings as an app, with the Bangin' sauce on the side (not vegan, ate with an omni) and a side of Buffalo sauce to dip (is just Frank's Buffalo, confirmed no added butter). The cauliflower was under cooked and still a bit too firm. Ordered the impossible burger with caramelized onions and sauteed mushrooms (Bleu burger with no cheese or aioli) for my main. The gluten free bun is the only vegan one and is so dry. I got tots as a side and was surprised that they were pretty flavorless, must be freezer burned before preparing? Took the burger home and added veganaise, much better.

Loved it there - Edit
We spent a week in Longmont, we went there three times! Food was amazing! They have a vegan dessert which is rare! They try! I ate the falafel burger both times and once I went just for dessert! People are very friendly!

Good food and atmosphere - Edit
I used to come here all the time when they first opened, but haven't been back since being vegan. I had to change that and I am glad I did. The rooftop is ideal, but the atmosphere all around is comfortable. Their katsu curry fries are so much better than they look (they look kind of plain). The falafel is meh, and the lettuce wraps are very good. Definitely get those fries though!

Lots of options, staff are vegan-aware - Edit
It’s always great to have more than that one vegan thing on the menu! Food is well prepared and flavorful. Great beer and cocktail options too. The bangin cauliflower and the Brussels sprouts are amazing.

Sauce on bangin cauli isn’t vegan so order without. The tomato soup is vegan & delish. Poke bowl is another great option.

Great vegan food - Edit
Well marked vegan options on the menu. Hope the options grow. The food blew me away, minus the soup imo (my husband actually really liked it). See more food and drink comments below. Waitress was really friendly, and even split the bill for us after the fact no fuss.
Read moreFood tried:
* Vegan falafel burger (golden falafel patty, garlic hummus spread, pepper jam, lettuce, tomato & red onion on a grilled potato roll). Hearty. The falafel burger held shape well. Would definitely re-order. Chose tots on the side.
* Shishito peppers - not The Roost's fault, but sometimes you get that one shishito that is just too spicy and it ruins so taste in your mouth. It definitely happened (around my 4th pepper). Otherwise, they were well blistered and seasoned with salt and lime.
* Katsu curry fries (Japanese curry seasoning, Ponzu sauce, cilantro & scallion) tried with sweet potato fries. WOW. This was the show stopper. The Japanese curry seasoning with ponzu sauce was umami and tangy and a little sweet. What a perfect combination.
* Tomato basil soup (roasted tomato, garlic, basil & coconut milk). Despite the coconut milk, the soup was watery, and so incredibly peppery. Hated it.
The jalapeño marg, true to name, was very jalapeño-y. Would not get again. The Aperol Spritz was orangey and fresh. The best drink was the painkiller (Local Spirit Hound whisky barrel aged rum, pineapple, orange, coconut, fresh nutmeg), creamy and the pineapple coconut and rum combination is a winner.

They must have changed things a bit or maybe different chefs IDK. The falafel burger I got wasn't inspiring at all although the sauce they put on the bun did help it have some flavor. The tomato soup was very potently flavored but very good and not in the least peppery. I don't recall any pepper in it so maybe they stopped adding it as it's a seasoning that's hard to miss.
