A bit of a disappointment

Let’s start with the good news at least you can get a really good vegan friendly draft beer here (Camden IPA & Camden Hels Larger) as well as a good vegan friendly draft cider (Westerns). The pub is also in a very central location in Richmond being only a very short walk from the station (I suppose its name is a bit of a giveaway there)

However the food on offer was a bit of a disappointment and while the choice available was a bit more than the token Vegan dish you see in so many pubs the main dish that I opted for (the root vegetable hot pot), apart from being a very small portion, was tasteless being made up of overcooked root vegetables with pearl barley in a bland sauce. The accompanying vegetables were very sorry for themselves with the carrots particularly looking as if they had seen better days. The other vegan option available there is the ubiquitous beyond meat burger which we didn’t try being deterred by the fact that they charge £14.50 for it.

The ambience of the pub is interesting with it being a lot larger than it appears from the front but this was spoilt by music being played at a level which made normal conversation across a table difficult. So, in conclusion perhaps a reasonable place to get a vegan friendly drink but if you’re looking for a good and reasonably priced vegan friendly meal don’t bother.

Cons: Poor quality and pricey vegan option , Music played way too loud, My wife pointed out that the toilets smelt bad
