Yum!

Firstly and importantly i have to acknowledge and thank the super friendly, helpful staff. They made us feel very welcome. Menu is varied and reasonably priced. We couldn't choose so went for a sharers combo, a side and a main so we could try a little of everything. Couple of hours drive and came especially.... Will be back again. Thank you v much to all the lovely friendly staff.

Pros: Staff, Choice, Price

Cons: Too far from where I live!

Must try

This place was one of the main reasons we decided to visit the area. It was lovely to walk into a pub knowing we could have anything on the menu! I went for the tofish and chips, which was perfect. The portions are big and fairly priced. We also had a mocha afterwards which was great. The staff were very friendly and even fit us in before our booked time slot… Highly recommend! Make sure you book because it was very busy.

Christmas Dinner 2024

The service was super speedy! We had to prebook and preorder our festive menu but when it came out it was absolutely delicious. We had the faux grois, pr*wn cocktail, Maple Glazed fillet roast dinner (complete with Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings) and Yule log and black forest Cheesecake for dessert. Wonderful atmosphere in the pub, too!

Spectacular food, friendly staff, cosy environment

Just had a 3 course Christmas dinner there and it was fantastic.

Had a Cheesy garlic bread starter to share, which was a great size for two.

Then for my main I had a 'Tournedos Rossini' which is basically a Christmas roast including a 3D printer vegan meat flank which was unlike any vegan meat I've ever tried before. Sided by a wide range of stuffing balls, 'pigs' in blankets, Yorkshire pud and roast veg.

For desert I enjoyed a delicious cheese cake, and the entire meal was fantastic, carried to the table by lovely and friendly staff.

We are keen to return when they are running their normal menu to try their big range of food.

Highly recommend.

Pros: 3D printed vegan meats , One of the best gravys I've had, Friendly staff

Queen Inn

Lovely traditional pub with really welcoming owners. I stayed overnight in my campervan and had Sunday roast the day after. (Owners happy to allow campervans if buying a meal.)
I had a relaxing night lulled to sleep by the running water of the adjacent stream. Very quiet after the pub closes.

This place is very popular and you’ll likely need to book a table, it was full today. The roast is served in two sittings on Sundays, an extensive menu is available on other days and I’d love to return and try this soon. I had the homemade seitan roast, which came with a good selection of veg, roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding and a massive portion of gravy. I couldn’t fit in a pudding, but took away a portion of the lemon cheesecake for my daughter to have and it was scrummy.

Finally got to try here and I wasn’t disappointed 😋

Great food!

My vegan partner and I went for a celebratory meal and couldn't fault it! Everything was great and on par if not better than the meat equivalent. Wouldnt hesitate visiting again sooner rather than later

Great food!

Finally got to visit with the wife and kids today. Food was fantastic, kids portions were fairly generous, staff were lovely, and not too expensive.

It's standard pub food not a gastro pub as some might suspect.

Pros: Amazing fully vegan menu, Lovely staff, Good prices

Cons: Quite small so I'm not sure you can just turn up

Delicious classical cuisine

This vegan restaurant offers a wide selection of vegan alternatives to classical local food like fish'n'chips, steaks, pies, burgers, ... All the dishes we tried were delicious. Most remarkable was how dog-friendly this place is: Free treats, blankets so that dogs can come on the bench, water and dog-food selection

Amazing food and experience

A friendly welcome was followed by some amazingly tasty and very filling food. Highly recommend the mixed grill. It was incredible. Tried the Jaffa Cake pudding with ice cream and it was superb.

Only thing, I'd like to see at the Queen's Inn and other places, is a separate area for those with dogs. This would accommodate those of us who love animals, but have allergies, and/or just don't want the strong smell/behaviour of someone's dog interfering with the enjoyment of a meal.

Hope to visit again.

Pros: Incredible food, Great service, Lovely experience

Cons: No sepearte area for those visiting with dogs

A weekend in Cwmbran/ Pontypool

We decided to have a trip Down to Cwmbran because we wanted to try the Queen Inn after hearing so many good things. So we booked a Saturday lunch and A Sunday Lunch . For the Saturday Lunch we had the Lemon and Pepper Tofu and The Hunters Chicken and a side of Crispy Chilli Beef which was all absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. For Dessert we had the Sticky Ginger Sponge and Chocolate, which were sweet and indulgent a real treat.

On the Sunday we had the juicy marbles steak and the Rosemary Chicken thighs Roasts. The Portion was generous and the veg were all cooked how I like them. It was a comforting traditional roast dinner that is just what I wanted, The chicken thighs were very realistic but this wasn't an issue for me. The Juicy Marbles was cooked just as the person wanted. We ended up with three clean plates. For Dessert we had Apple pie with Custard and Lemon and Berry Cheesecake with Ice Cream. The Cheesecake was zingy , light and tasty. The Apple pie was warming and filling. All in all the Queen Inn Didn't disappoint and we have even booked our festive meal at the Queen Inn for December. Highly recommend the Queen Inn

Pros: The food is a high standard , The menu has lots of choice , Staff were welcoming and friendly .

Cons: Nothing

Gut busting portions

We'd been looking forward to eating at The Queen's Inn for months and it didn't disappoint. Well worth the wait. The Queen's is a typical pub set up with a covered beer garden. It's situationed on a hill next to a picturesque stream & there's ample parking.

We shared the cheesy garlic bread to start. Then I ordered the chicken & BBQ ribs while my partner had the Queen burger. The portion sizes was great & we really enjoyed our meals. Very tasty. We both felt so full after that, that unfortunately we couldn't manage a dessert. I'd have loved to try something but again the dessert portion sizes were big & being so full, I just couldn't manage it 😞

I can definitely recommend The Queen's. It was wonderful having so much choice. It's such a novelty being able to choose anything in a menu and know that it's cruelty free. The waiting & bar staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Outstanding experience

I had an absolutely phenomenal experience at The Queens Inn in Cwmbran. The vegan food was outstanding—the best I’ve ever had! The staff were so lovely and welcoming, creating such a warm atmosphere that made the whole experience feel special. They were also incredibly lovely to our dog, which made us feel even more at home!

Good portions and great price.

Even my dad, who’s usually hard to convince when it comes to vegan food, loved the food! Highly recommend for anyone—vegan or not
