Great ambiance, okay food - Edit
Really cute pub, perfect for a cold evening with a fire going inside. However, the food was a bit underwhelming. The lentil mushroom burger was crumbly and the bun was so dry. The pumpkin curry was okay but was mostly sauce. Fortunately the mulled wine was excellent! Very dog friendly and good service. Hope others have better food experiences, especially the cost.

We absolutely loved the variety of vegan dishes they have. Plus the atmosphere is fantastic too. Lovely pictures on the walls. A fire place running to warm you up (-2 outside today) and the food is delicious too. A real pearl!

Canalside Dreamboat - Edit
In an area sparse with vegan places, this admirable boozer finds a much needed niche.
Read moreIt's by the canal, so prices typically reflect that.
Beautiful, eclectic, spacious. Some great ales on tap and a vegan wine list.
Putting the for(war)d back in Oxford (& removing the ox(en).
This place is great.

One of my faves - Edit
The atmosphere is really cozy and they were kind enough to accomodate 12 of us!
Read moreI had the "Ponzu marinated paneer or tofu, asian hispi cabbage w udon noodles & pickled ginger" which I cannot recommend enough! Apparently for all vegetarians, the Mushroom Risotto is out of this world, also the Mushroom and Lentil Burger was a fan favorite in my group. We also shared the chocolate dessert which was just perfection.
The staff is also very kind and will happily recommend something from the menu.
Pros: Amazing food, would love to try everything !, Cozy Vibes
Cons: Bit on the spenny end

I had a lovely lunch outside on the terrace. It was quite near the road, but hardly any cars there. Service was very attentive and nice! Many cool vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Delicious! - Edit
My family and I ate here for dinner and it was delicious!! I had the mushroom lentil burger and I absolutely loved it. I don’t usually order vegan burgers because I don’t like the ultra processed meat analogues, but this one was made with whole foods and I am so happy I tried it. The flavor was phenomenal! The fries were crispy and delicious, too! And for dessert we shared a phenomenal chocolate mousse torte! I highly recommend and suggest making a booking, as it was very busy here.

Second lunchtime visit to The Punter. I had the Katsu burger last time which was truly delicious. This time I had the Hot and Sour curry: possibly one of the best curries I have ever eaten. I’m really looking forward to going again soon!

A bit out of town, but an absolute gem. Very cute place with nice paintings. The food is on the smallish portion sizes and somewhat more expensive than some of the other places around, but I think it was worth the experience!

Lovely riverside spot! - Edit
We enjoyed a hearty meal at The Punter. Portion sizes were excellent and flavours were interesting. We particularly enjoyed the butternut squash, sweet potato and rosemary soup & cashew coriander and lime hummus as our starters. For our mains we had the grilled tofu dish in a tangy satay sauce and refried beans main. The satay sauce was however slightly too spicy for me (note I have a low spice tolerance though). For dessert we had the chocolate mousse tart and it was divine! Overall enjoyed the meal but beware portions are large - make sure you visit on an empty stomach.

Excellent food - Edit
I am completely surprised by the food in this pub. The food is great. This food is of the best quality and very nicely presented. I did not expect such food in a pub. The food is absolutely delicious, only the portions could be bigger. The ambience is that of a typical pub. The location by the river is very pretty. If they would just switch to a fully vegan menu, everything would be perfect.
