Lovely Pub, Great Food - Edit
The food was so good - had the tofu bao and corn riblets. One bao is definitely enough for a person as they're pretty big, and would recommend at least one sharing plate between two as well (or chips etc.). Both the corn and the bao were delicious.
Read moreThe menu is very clearly labelled with veggie and vegan options, but even better is the draught beers which are labelled at the bottom of the taps whether vegan or not which is such a good thing to see. There's a range of beers/ales on draught and a good selection of nice spirits.
I'd tried to get into this place to eat on two previous occasions but all tables were taken (and you can't really order food to eat standing up). If you turn up on the dot at 5pm you've got a good chance of getting a table, otherwise you have to hope or be happy to stand and wait (maybe with a drink). Worth it.
Pros: Delicious food, Beers labelled vegan
Cons: Tricky to get a table (small pub)

Amazing place to check out when you're in Brighton.

So gooood - Edit
Vegan loaded fries, panko squash bao, fried tofu bao, corn starters: everything was DELICIOUS. It was my friend's first fully vegan meal ever and he loved everything! The sauces and flavours are really well done.
Read moreThe four dishes I mentioned were a good quanity for two people and reasonably priced.
Quite a lot of beers on tap as well.
Pros: Cute little outside seating area

Best Vegan Baos and loaded fries in Brighton! - Edit
Despite this not being a fully vegan venue, the vegan options they have on the menu are amazing, the Pond is nearly always full so getting a table here can be difficult however well worth the wait to taste the delights from the BabyBao Kitchen

So many vegan options - Edit
Wanted to eat at The Pond for ages. Finally made it and wasn’t disappointed!! The mushroom bulgogi bao was super tasty and full of flavour. Both dessert options were vegan and I’d say at least half the menu was vegan. Definitely a must in Brighton!

Delicious! - Edit
We went on meat free Mondays which are all vegan. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. Between two of us we had two bao (one mushroom, one seitan), and two side dishes (kimchee rice balls and the special, garlic and chili spring onion tops). We were full but couldn't resist sharing a black sesame doughnut bao. Everything was amazing, will definitely be going back.

Mondays The Pond do a completely vegan menu - Edit
We went as a large group to have lunch on the meat-free Monday when everything on the menu is vegan. The food is absolutely stunning - the Bao buns are amazing, and I don't know what kind of sorcery they perform on their mushrooms but they taste out of this world. The loaded fries are amazing too. They also have plenty of vegan choices on other days aside from Mondays, the staff are really lovely and the pub has a great atmosphere and is nice and clean. You ought to give it a go!

Unique and delicious - Edit
As a vegan eater, Brighton's restaurant scene is one of the best places with hundreds of options out there, so to come across food I've not had before rare, and the Taiwanese steamed buns here are amazing.
Read moreMy partner and I shared the Crispy Tofu and Mushroom Bulgogi buns, with a side of spiced fries. The tofu was excellent but the mushroom was next level! My only criticism would be that the fries, while really tasty, were a little over-salted for my tastes, but that shouldn't put you off - it's all good stuff.
The bar staff could use a tad more training on which of their drinks are vegan (but that can be said for just about any pub you go to).
The place does serve meat dishes too, so if that's not your thing, fair enough, but if you can look past that, for something a bit different for lunch, I heartily recommend.
5 stars if not for the meat options.
Pros: Excellent food, Friendly and enthusiastic staff, Good decor/vibe inside
Cons: More vegan drinks knowledge needed, Fries a bit too salty for my tastes
