Serves meat, vegan options available. A free house that sells a wide range of local cask beers and serves traditional pub food, all made fresh in-house. The pub has a large beer garden with chickens and rabbits and a large car park. Walks and cycling routes are on the doorstep. Several marked vegan dishes are on the menu including a vegan buttermilk chicken burger, vegetable Wellington, Cajun sweet potato roulade and a falafel salad wrap. Open Mon-Sat 11:30-23:00, Sun 11:30-22:30.

Incredible hidden Peak District gem - Edit
The vegan options were incredible! 2 burgers, 1 pie, jacket potato with beans/ chilli, chilli chips and rice dish, garlic chiabatta, onion rings and more! Plus and incredibly generous dessert option of black forest cheesecake and 2 huge scoops of chocolate ice cream!

Fair selection of beers and wine too, not marked vegan but some options available if quickily checked.
The pub itself is lovely and traditional with lots of nooks and quirks.
Quick service and friendly staff😄
We only stopped by for a drink after a long hike but couldn't resist stopping for food too and we are so glad we did! Definately reccomend😄

What a great surprise! - Edit
Stumbled upon this place as we needed somewhere to air the baby, and what a lovely pub it is. The fire was roaring on a cold January day and we were able to enjoy mains and dessert whilst the little one slept. All very reasonable prices too!
Read moreHad the buttermilk chicken burger with chips and then the vegan brownie with ice cream. The waitress apologised because they were out of vanilla ice cream and had to serve it with chocolate ice cream, which literally MADE MY DAY.
Just a warning - the portions are massive! Aimed at walkers and cyclists I think. For example, the brownie is two brownies and two massive balls of ice cream. Delicious!!!
Pros: Clearly marked options, Portions are huge, Dessert! Oh and the fire 🔥
