Delicious and gorgeous - Edit
The menu is small but everything was so beautiful and delicious! They grow plants in the back that they use on the dishes. I saw the plant that the leaves on my food came from, such a cool concept! And the space has an impecable design. The staff was so sweet and brought both my pups their own bowls of water. I’m GF and they answered all my questions. There’s a separate frier for GF stuff.

Fav Vegan Place - Edit
This wonderful place has earned its spot as my absolute favorite vegan place as of now. I enjoyed the food SO much and was blown away by the quality and variety of vegans food offered here. They source most (if not all) of their vegetables from a garden that’s right next to the shop. Love it!!

Great Waffles, Overly Salted - Edit
We tried the neon prayer (cocktail), cheesy truffle french fries, chicken and waffles, shepherd's pie, and plot cake. Before the meal, they offered a (free) starter salad/cleanser, which was a nice touch. However, for me, the neon prayer and waffle were the best part of the night. The waffle especially was delicious. I could have eaten just a stack of them for dinner. The cheesy truffle fried were good — but on the edge of too salty. The “chicken” (big chunks of fried tofu — which I love in theory, not execution) and shepherd's pie were both very over-salted (and I like salt!). The plot cake was very grainy/gritty. I understand it is gluten-free, but I have had many fabulous gluten-free, non-grainy desserts, so I do not think that is a fair justification.
Read moreBased on the reviews, I hope (and assume?) we just visited on an off day, but it was disappointing since we drove from San Diego. If I lived closer, I would give them another try, but due to distance, I likely will not.

First visit - Edit
I have eaten at The Plot Express so I had a feeling this place would not disappoint and I was right. From the charred broccolini to my egg plants and salad. The flavors were definitely worth the wait. I think The Plot will become one of my go to spots after surfing once I am back in the ocean.

Incredible Brunch - Edit
Everything was immaculate, from overall concept of the restaurant to presentation and taste. Prices were great as well. We got the fresh OJ (amazing), the house soda NineUp, truffle fries, crab salad, sausage and biscuits, the breakfast burrito, and the plot cake (omg). All made gluten free except the crab salad (has some breadcrumbs).
Read moreAll were 10/10. The maple syrup over the biscuits was such a great touch. Can’t wait to try the biscuits with chicken next time😄Portions sizes were large. It was a spectacular meal and worth the hike up to Oside. We will be back!!

"Elevated" food without pretension - Edit
The Plot is one of those places that just feels special, because everything comes together just right. Another rarity is that the food is delicious and healthy, which is almost never done well.

Mostly good - Edit
I visited The Plot last night with two non-vegan friends. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, so it was hard to decide. I landed on the chicken and waffles and a decaf iced latte. The latte was delicious, even sans sugar (how I normally drink it). The waffle was amazing - perfectly sweet and slightly spiced, I think. It was also quite dense and a bit chewy. I loved it. The chicken was disappointing. It came in stick form and while the fried outer coating was good, if needing a bit more spice, the interior seemed to be straight up tofu. I abhor plain, non-firm tofu (like that used in some soups) so, needless to say, the chicken was not my favorite. I noticed that in photos of the chicken and waffles, from other users on this site, the pieces look more like chicken, with breast and wing shapes. Maybe they ran out of TVP/seitan to make more authentic veggie chicken?

The Plot Thickens - with amazing plant based food! - Edit
Wow. What a special place this is. Awesome vibes the second you walk in the door. The energy of the staff really fills this place and you can tell how much everyone appreciates the innovative plant based menu. The outdoor seating area is just such a great way to enjoy the amazing food on offer. Enjoyed sausage and biscuits, the breakfast sandwich, the crab and cucumber salad. Also, if you like hot sauce, I’d recommend you ask for some. There were two offerings, the spicy red hot sauce made from peppers grown on site! Also, try the fries. 😂

Really good food grown right there - Edit
The food was delicious and it's grown right there in the restaurant. I had the shepherds pie which is very good lol a little bit too salty. The Thai Larb was excellent as was the tomato soup and the KFC roll. The vanilla, angel food, tape cake with fruit was delicious. The chocolate cake was OK although a bit heavy.

The most incredible vegan restaurant I have ever been too (next to Apteka inPittsburgh:)!
Read moreSeriously though, this is a must. Incredible, zero waste, farm to table, delicious and innovative … Beautiful interior, dog friendly patio, and service was impeccable. Our waitress was so sweet and I have never heard anyone be so good at elaborate the menu (any menu anywhere). Her way of describing specials made me want to order it all. Our group had two kids who lived the food as much as we did and when we order deserts and espresso at the end, she brought out little tiny cacao drinks served in espresso coffee cups for kids too-you can imagine how good, important and acknowledged kids felt - so sweet! Highly recommend, the food was incredibly delicious.

Best Vegan in North San Diego County - Edit
Have not been living in the area that long (under a year), but consider this the best vegan place I have found in the Carlsbad/Oceanside/Vista/San Marcos area. Great food, excellent staff, and both indoor and outdoor dining options. We've brought multiple omnivores here and they have enjoyed it as well.
