Sunshine on The Meadows

Hippy vibes and a wholefood style menu. Nothing fancy but ideal for lunch.
I had the Falafel wrap and red pepper soup, bit were good.

Pros: Staff, Healthy, Location in sunshine

Anti vegetarian experience?

Tried to get some breakfast here. The pastries & stuff in the glass cabinet looked a day or two old & the place needed cleaning up. They suggested that if we wanted a “proper”breakfast to go across the road for a full English with sausages & eggs. I’ve been vegetarian for 40 years & my kids are vegan. Was that racist or vegist? Wow, didn’t stay!

A Fringe oasis

Cute little cafe that’s close to the bustle of the Fringe but miles away from its pace. Very relaxing for a cup of tea

Cosy space

Small selection of vegan food. I ordered a cauliflower kuku, which was ok.

Great wee place

Very welcoming wee cafe, perfectly placed to relax on the meadows and grab a coffee and something to munch! They use oatly milk which is a bonus as they are the best one I've found so far for coffee

Great place to eat on a sunny day

A lot of Pavilion Café’s menu rotates on the specials board, but there are always a good few options for vegans. Expect wraps with fillings such as falafel and roast vegetables, vegan-friendly soups of the day, mezzes, salads and more.

On the sweet side of things, they are supplied by gluten-free bakers Gluttony who provide tasty cakes, some of which are suitable for vegans. Their raspberry and coconut cake is a firm favourite of mine. You may also spot their little ice-cream cart outside, which always has a vegan flavour or two.

But arguably the biggest selling point of the Pavilion Café is its location. There is a handful of indoor seating for when it rains, but when the sun is out in Edinburgh there really is no better place to be than their outdoor terrace on the Meadows.

Amazing place on a nice day

This is the place to go on a sunny day in Edinburgh. You can sit on the meadows and enjoy their great and home made wraps (falafel or roast veggies) and they also have nice drinks. The food tastes amazing and is always freshly prepared.

Pros: Great food, Outdoor seating on the meadows, Lovely people
