Good pancakes, but a little disappointed - Edit
The pancakes were really decent portion sizes - I would suggest sharing as my sister and I just couldn’t finish ours. The pancakes themselves were nice and fluffy and served with a vanilla coconut based ice cream.
Read moreI tried the Jamaican banana which was nice with caramelised banana slices. My sister had the chocnana crunch which was very rich and too heavy on the peanut butter.
Don’t order coffee here - it tastes like watered down instant coffee personally, and non-dairy milks are an extra $1.50 which I feel is slight price gouging.
The vegan Swiss mountain malt was the highlight of our meal - very tasty, but expensive for the size. A plus was the very quick service.
Pros: Good variety of vegan options , Quick and friendly service , Nice atmosphere with comfy booths
Cons: Coffee was terrible , Expensive

Yummy - Edit
Went here as I was craving pancakes and I couldn’t even finish them as the portions were very large! They have a separate vegan menu with both sweet and savoury options. The maple syrup is on the table so you can add as much as you like. There are two or three stack pancake options as well, plus gluten free.

A bit disappointed - Edit
I used to go there before I went vegan, so I was extremely happy to come back to try this nee vegan menu! But I was disappointed first by the « fries » that actually are not fries but simply potatoes… and with my pancakes as well, even if the crunchy choc and peanut is good, there is no effort for the presentation like they are used to do for the other menu.
Read moreIt was good but that’s it, I think I won’t come again (even if there is a full vegan menu which is great!)
Pros: Full vegan menu
Cons: Expensive, Less effort in the presentation

Let’s face it: They’re ridiculously expensive. Smaller cafes with less revenue don’t charge that much for pancakes

This is true, but you tell me where to find a vegan and gluten free pancake around? I have looked a lot of places!

Very expensive but delicious - Edit
You have to ask for the plant-based menu, but rest assured it's there!
Read moreHeaps on pancake and drink options on the vegan menu to choose from. I got the strawberry pancakes and my partner got Apple. Absolutely delicious pancakes, perfect fluffy texture. The icecream I believe is house made and was creamy vanilla. The portion size was great too.
We also went with vegan malt drinks which were tasty, but nothing special and way overpriced. I loved it here, but 2 pancake plates and 2 malts came to $75, I probably wouldn't come back unless a special occasion.
Tip: There is a discount code on the nrma app

Surely there are nicer places for a special occasion if you’re going to pay through the nose as you do at this place.

Good option when with omni family now make vegan pancakes - Edit
27/11/2021 I’ve been back twice recently and they have changed their menu. The salads are gone, I actually liked their salad. anyway they now make proper pancakes. Thick pancakes. I had the choconana one yesterday and it was filling. They also offer short stacks. I had the cheese and potato one and I didn’t find it hit the spot. But a good place to sit somewhere quiet and eat with your family
Read moreI’ve been here twice and it’s great that I can come here with my family. The vegan malted milk was delicious. I’ve enjoyed the crepes but I must admit to feeling hungry after eating them. Maybe put salad on the side to make it a bigger serving. I haven’t tried the salads as I want to eat pancakes when eating at the pancake parlour. Thick fluffy pancakes would be good as well. Definitely give them points for trying though and I’m sure ill continue coming with my family, but I’d love them to have some proper vegan pancakes!

Their plantcrepe range is very nice, but it's so sweet! The portion is pretty decent, but it's so expensive that I only eat there if I have a voucher or for their free birthday deal.

Being from out of Aus I've never been to this restaurant before but I loved it! Staff were super helpful and friendly, food was served fast and was delicious. Lots of vegan options on a separate vegan menu. Wish we had this in New Zealand!

nostalgic - Edit
The Pancake Parlour recently upped their game, expanding their vegan menu from crepes and salad to include the thick, fluffy plantcakes vegans have been waiting for. My partner is vegetarian and LOVES the Pancake Parlour and while it wouldn’t be my first choice, it reminds me of my childhood and I’m glad I can enjoy it with him. We went this week for his birthday. I’m a bit sad that the old Bourke Street restaurant closed before the vegan menu launched but the Melbourne Central restaurant has a similarly eclectic but slightly “updated” decor. As a kid, I loved the savoury pancakes best - I guess I was a weird kid but I’ve never had a huge sweet tooth - so I had to try the potato and cheese pancake. For around $26 it’s served with a side salad and you can add sautéed mushrooms for $4, which I did. The pancake was as thick and fluffy as you’d hope with a crispy grilled cheeze crust - probably Bio or Oliana. I think the mushrooms make a tasty, hearty addition. I also added Tabasco which rounded it out nicely. In lieu of desert, I ordered the chocolate Mountain Malt with almond milk. It tasted like a cold, liquid Malteser but at over $11, I would not repeat this order! I enjoyed my meal but the food alone was not worth over $40! It feels nostalgic and indulgent so I’m sure I’ll be back eventually to try some of the sweet options.

Good plantcrepes - Edit
Own vegan menu with 6 different plantcrepes options. Very delicious food - had the chocnana crunch plantcrepe which had choc pb w banana and cinnamon, served with vanilla ice cream (very yummie). Added also a bowl of strawberries on the side so it didnt et to heavy. Also tried the super green power smoothie, good but tasted maybe a little too much cucumber for my taste. Highly recommend anyway!
