Enjoyed sharing dishes - Edit
The food is absolutely lovely. Really liked the salt and pepper calamari - amazing texture. The crispy beef was gorgeous, the broccoli super fresh and the biscoff cake super. It is such a pleasure to eat with my non vegan friends and family and for us to be able to mix and match dishes.

This is a fantastic place to eat. It was great to be able to pick anything off the entire menu. The range was vast and just as extensive as any non-vegan Chinese restaurant.

The service was amazing and the COVID precautions did not feel restrictive. We were also very happy with the price. Under £50 for three courses each and a couple of drinks.
The shredded duck was to die for!

We had between two: the wild mushroom soup (big!£3),Scallops with satay (they were okay), cumin lamb stick (great), chicken in mushroom sauce (great on its own, good portion size), crispy beef (SO GOOD!! but glad I had noodles with it). Carrot and pistachio cake to finish it off. All vegan menu, great prices with a main at around £7-9, and small plates £4-5.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant, with good covid-safe measures. The food is unreal. We are holidaying in York, and would consider returning for an overnight stay just to eat at this restaurant.
Read moreFor starters, we had the mushroom soup, gyoza, and okra. All fantastic. For mains, we had the duck and the lemon chicken. Both were the best vegan meals we have ever had. The texture of both the duck and the chicken was unbelievable- this is certainly no Quorn fillet! The marinades are flavourful and the service very good. I'm still thinking of that lemon chicken days later! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant and would make it a must-visit when in York. I really do hope that locals support it and this new venue flourishes.

We came here on a recommendation and we absolutely loved it. The food was tasty and the staff were friendly and efficient. The ambience was lovely and good Covid procedures were in place. Everything is vegan. Will visit again. The biscoff was heavenly.

The food here is phenomenal. It tastes exactly like I remember Chinese takeaway tasting. The Shredded Beef in OK Sauce is particularly delicious!

I ordered takeaway salt and pepper tofu, salt and pepper chips and fried noodles, all were nice, the noodles were the exact flavour you're after. The chips were nice but relied on seasoning (they are Chinese chips not chippy chips) the tofu was nice, kids would be able to eat any of it as not spicy so that's good. Machine on wall to check own temperature on way in. Only fault is it opens too late for takeaway I'd say, half five would be better. Staff nice. Extra star fully vegan.

What a super find. The staff are super with an eye for detail....cups and teapot handles point the same way when put on the table....its just the little things that get noticed. The food....just superb. One of the best vegan meals out. Highly recommended and we will be going back. More than worth the 1.5hr round trip.

Most wonderful Chinese food experience - Edit
They had not been open long when we visited and as such had reduced table numbers do that they could get used to serving and cooking. The whole experience was great. Service was swift and attentive and the food was cooked perfectly. You have to go through a thermometer check at the door which flashes green for go in. Didn’t see what happens if you fail. Food was just like you would get in other Chinese restaurants other than the fact that it was all vegan. The shredded beef was a revelation and the lemon chicken looked pleasant. Noodles were top notch as well. Great range of drinks available and nice desserts. A great Chinese vegan food experience. I wish them good luck for the future.

My fiance and I had to take out from the orchid vegan just before they were about to open whilst we were visiting York. Owners and staff were polite friendly and welcoming.
Read moreWe found the food to be flavorable but quite greasy. Perhaps aired on the side of too sweet. A few tweaks should sort out any teething problems.
