Amazing - you must visit - Edit
We loved the entire experience. The food was top class (some of the very best Asian food I've ever had). The restaurant is popular and do not accept walk ins. So book in advance.
Read moreThe waiting is top notch. Very efficient and extremely attentive.
We had the shredded vegan duck pancakes to share to start, the crispy shredded vegan beef, the vegan house special stir fry (Szechuan) with some fried noodles and Singapore style special fried fried rice. All exceptional.
This place is a must visit.
Pros: Exceptional quality of the food, Superb waiting staff

Fantastic - Edit
Really enjoyed this place, the food was excellent. I did have to ask for salt for the sweetcorn soup which I felt could of let the sweetcorn come out into the broth some more but it was still enjoyable. Vegan crackers had a nice flavour and the mains me and my partner shared were top notch, careful if you have the Mongolian beef though, I bit down on the small red(chilli?) and my mouth was on absolute fire 🤣 where as the dish itself isn't hot. It was nice to have regular Chinese noodles again which I haven't been able to have since being vegan. Loved the cheese cake dessert as well.

Delicious! - Edit
I’m so used to just having one or two dishes to choose from, so having a full menu was fantastic! The food was delicious, service was quick and so friendly. Will definitely visit again!

Lovely Vegan Chinese Red - Edit
Went there over Easter for dinner after walking around York Town Wall. It was us with our 3 and 6 year olds. Great choice, although the Kids as usual just went for the noodles with a dessert, we had a selection which was all really nice. Would recommend and go again. The inside was smart and the service was friendly even though the greeter at the door seemed suspicious of everyone who entered!

Vegan treat - Edit
Always look to eat at a fully vegetarian or vegan restaurant if i can but unfortunately iam so often left disapointed as quite often i can cook much better my self however this was definitely not the case at The Orchid.

The food was spicy but balanced, not overpowering. I would recommend to anybody visiting york and very reasonably priced too.

Must visit - Edit
An amazing vegan restaurant in York, close to the centre and the train station. Lovely ambiance, the service is lovely, and the food is such a treat. Big portions, only vegan food served. Recommend to everyone who has enough of the burgers and curries which is usually the only option in other places.

The best vegan Chinese food I’ve ever had! - Edit
Me and my partner ordered the rice, vegetable noodles, chicken curry and Mongolian beef and it was all superb. The food was so fresh and of the highest quality. The service was slightly slow but super friendly and it is slightly out of the way and a slight walk out of the centre but nothing major. If I came to York again I would definitely pay this place another visit.

Good not great - Edit
The variety of food was good however slightly disappointed, the food lacked flavour especially with the vegan chicken dish I got which I thought was particularly dry. The atmosphere was very serious and not very friendly although we’re nice. Not in a rush to go back

Best Vegan Chinese Experience - Edit
The Orchid was our first stop in York after a long drive, the food was superb and the service was stellar. All the mock versions of food makes it possible to please both omnivores and vegans a like, and the crispy beef deserves a special mention. #Veganuary

A must in York - Edit
I love Chinese food and this place is an essential place to visit in York. Had a sit in meal here once and a take away too. Both hugely enjoyable with great food. Not your average Chinese food experience but more healthy and tasty. The mock beef and chicken dishes are so good.

Really friendly service from the moment we walked in. Really nice environment beautifully clean. But the food was the high point, every thing we ate was tasty and to be able to choose anything from the menu made for a great evening.

Stuffed! - Edit
Came hungry, left feeling full ! Nice homemade prawn crackers. Lovely sweetcorn soup. Salt n pepper tofu somehow lacked flavour compared to other times we have had that. Sweet n sour prawns nice but hard work now to get through everything. Beef shiitake strips in OK sauce just tasted weird, I am sure how they are meant to be, but tasted a bit burnt (maybe they are supposed to be barbecued?). Nice to have an Irish coffee with cream.
