A couple of vegan options, new owners & menu since last reviews couple years ago

Still not good though sadly. We had the vegan haggis starter (small) & only vegan main we could see (falafel burger). Sadly, very basic & dry. Could do with more chips. Definitely better than last reviews of old ownership however needs more vegan options.

Pros: A couple of vegan options, Beautiful grounds/pub , Good beer choice

Cons: Not the best quality , Literally 1 vegan main option

Has an option

Seems to be only one vegan option now - the block of tofu mentioned in the other review. They now cut it in half so two wedges of deep fried unseasoned tofu. Would recommend avoiding this dish if they do have another vegan option on the menu. On the upside the drinks and bar staff were lovely, and if it's sunny and you can sit outside the view of the stream is wonderful

Pros: Garden, Bar, There is one option

Cons: Restaurant , Bland, There is only one option

Grilled block of tofu?

It’s great to have two vegan choices on the menu and when I saw the huge green V on the vegan sign pointing the way on the main road I got quite excited. On arrival the welcome was frosty when we said we hadn’t booked. The person dissappeared and we were left waiting with no update as to whether we could be accommodated. I asked another passing waiter who was friendlier and assured us our table was being prepaired. Perhaps I should have played safe and gone for the curry (which I haven’t tried). The grilled tofu was an entire block of plain tofu deep fried, unless I’m much mistaken. The roasted sweet potato was soft and textureless, salad was ok but I suspect the dressing was classic honey and mustard but I didn’t ask as I didn’t feel comfortable to do so due to the off hand welcome we had. There was also a sauce (watery pesto) which wasn’t mentioned on the menu but was very tasty and did make all the difference.
