Great place to visit with non vegan friends and family

Separate vegan menu with plenty of options.

The waiting staff were very helpful and were able to answer questions relating to the vegan options.

The starter and main I ordered were tasty. Although the side was quite bland and I couldn’t taste the garlic and samphire.

I will return to try their Sunday lunch options and desserts.

Update Oct 24
There is no longer a separate menu and the options are limited. The food was ok, the service was still good.

It’s, unfotunately, getting worse

We used to live here and popped back for a birthday meal. The vegan menu is no longer and the vegan options are greatly reduced. To make things worse, things that can normally be made vegan I.e pizza, are no longer adaptable. In the fryer they fry everything, meat, fish etc. So while I was excited to see banana blossoms on the menu, it wasn’t able to be made vegan. This would be fine if they made other vegan meals in its place. So I’ll be having soup and sides to make up a meal.
Such a shame as the pub is beautiful.

Pros: Gorgeous pub and location

Cons: No more vegan menu , Adaptability for vegan options is poor , Varying understanding of vegan options from staff

A little gem

I have enjoyed the vegan items here, and staff have happily accommodated veggie options to make them vegan. There hasn’t been anything mind-blowing about the vegan options to make them stand out from other establishments, but the non-vegan friends I’ve brought along have said that their dishes were phenomenal and worth the price.

The decor is modern and relaxing. Great selection of drinks. Ample parking and is a stone’s throw away from a train station for those coming from Cardiff city centre.

Pros: Good vegan options, Verdant outdoor seating

Disappointing

This place didn’t quite meet my expectations and with a few tweaks it could have been exceptional. My vegan burger was delicious but came with an undressed salad and no chips and when I ordered chips they didn’t arrive. An apology would have resolved things for me but the staff, although friendly, didn’t seem to understand the customer experience and seemed more concerned with getting through their shift. I’d have paid more for better service.

Pros: Some of the food was delicious , Beautiful venue , Plenty of parking

Cons: Lack of attention to detail , Thought that vegans wouldn’t like chips, Lack of an apology

Separate vegan menu - nice

I enjoyed the two courses I had there: roast veg tart followed by a chocolate tart (with a scoop of coconut sorbet, which was very smooth). My partner had the aubergine+harissa burger, which was fine.

The vegan choice is pretty good (check website): several starters, about 5 mains and 3 desserts. The curry was unavailable when we were there.

Prices are on the high side, but the food was good quality and presented well. Not big portions, but filling over two courses.

We took our dog for a walk in Cefn On Park, and had lunch here afterwards, it's right next door. They allow dogs in one end of the pub, and there were lots of dogs in there. I imagine it gets quite busy, so worth considering booking.

Nice wooden fires, music not too loud, discrete tv with 6-nations rugby on. Pretty building/location. Child friendly, too.

Definitely worth a trip - especially if with non-vegans.

Pros: Separate vegan menu, Good atmosphere / service, Near Cefn On Park - and dog friendly

Cons: Not open until 12, On the very edge of the city
