Mini Oasis in the City - Edit
My eyes lit up when I happened upon this store because having discovered the other Nutmeg elsewhere in the city, I knew I was on to a winner. While significantly smaller than its counterpart (and lacking the incredible in-house cafe/restaurant), there was still an array of amazing items crammed into the space. The real boon was the small, but perfectly formed fresh counter that had a decent selection of sweet and savoury items. The sausage roll I purchased was a great little snack, the date & walnut slice was incredible and ginger & pistachio slice was a mini revelation.

Nice selection of vegan products - Edit
I came here specifically to buy some vegan cheese (locally-made cashew cheese, of which there were several varieties) which was pretty good. A bit pricey, but good for specialty and organic products.

Best in Belfast - Edit
Having had a refit a while ago, this store now has both chilled and frozen goods. Most of the brands are Suma ones, plenty of snacks, some toiletries and a decent selection of supplements / herbal and homeopathic. Also sells some fresh food (e.g. sandwiches) and has a nearby sister café called “hustle”.

The Nutmeg - Edit
Absolutely wonderful health food store packed floor to ceiling with many amazing vegan products, spices, treats, and more. I was happy to collect some Sojade for breakfast as well as some treats from the baked goods counter. That little chocolate peanut butter ball was so delish!!!

A Belfast Staple - Edit
The Nutmeg should be forever crowned as a shop who has always cared. I've been visiting since the 90s when nobody seemed to care about even vegetarianism, but the nutmeg did. Its a tiny shop, packed full of everything you could need.

Good healthfood store - Edit
Nice selection of products, many vegan items, chilled and packaged. Non-dairy cheeses, supplements, canned goods. Some vegan sandwiches to take away. I bought Love Raw treats there and and jar of Northern-Ireland-made Irish Black Butter. Both yum.

A gem - Edit
A tardis-like shop that crams in loads of vegan goodies. Has lots of the known vegan alternatives. Not primarily a food service place but does have a small selection of sausage rolls etc.

Nutty butty - Edit
Like a time capsule, it's pretty much the exact same inside as it has been since I started going what must be 15 years ago.
Read moreA jam packed health food shop, if you want a bamboo toothbrush, organic stuff, eco shower gel, teas of any description, dried nuts / pulses / fruit, freezer and oven stuff for Vegans or some snacks, come here.
Remember hearing the guys from 387 ormeau had some connection to here? Anyway, quite handily located ESP if you're a tourist and need supplies.
Doesn't have the extended range I need, but good in a pinch.
Pros: Location, Packed with goodies
Cons: Range OK, Can get cramped

Best shop for vegans in Belfast - Edit
Has the best and widest range of vegan replacements. Stocks the most popular vegan cheeses, meats, ready meals, chocolate, etc. It does pretty much anything you’d need when making vegan/healthy/special things that supermarkets and even Holland and Barrett wouldn’t do. It is a very small shop so it can be quite hard to move around and look for things properly, especially when busy. Its also quite pricey (depending on what you’re buying) but most vegan replacement products are.

I love it - Edit
I go to Nutmeg every week, if you look long enough, you can find pretty much anything in there, some things are a bit hidden. They have a fridge and freezer which is quite handy as well. I love their vegan pestos, their self-made vegan sausage rolls, the coconut milk yoghurt and the vegan cream cheese.

A Belfast Vegan Must - Edit
The nutmeg has long been a staple for vegetarians and vegans in Belfast, carrying established brands such as Suma and Frys. Perfect for keeping your kitchen cupboards and medicine cabinet stocked, they now also serve vegan sandwiches if you're ever stuck for lunch! The chilled cabinets are full of everything imaginable from sosage rolls to peanut butter slices, and if you're lucky they occasionally stock DONUTS. They carry Violife, Follow Your Heart and all those ridiculously expensive vegan chocolate treats you could never bring yourself to buy online but cannot resist in person...

They do snacks & lunch! - Edit
The write up for the shop suggests that it's only a health food store, but they also have desserts, salads and sammiges. Hell yes. I'm currently fighting with my will-power not to return and buy out all of their homemade vegan chocchip cookies. Holy cow!

Now doing sanwiches - Edit
I love the friendliness of the shop but lunchtime offerings were always delicious but sparse. Not anymore as they now do a really varied selection of sandwiches, baguettes, bagels, gf sandwiches and salads along with the normal sausage rolls and samosas. Try the roasted sprout and falafel (no I'm not joking, it really is a thing) or the scrambled 'egg' and 'bacon' baguette- all totally vegan!

Not the place it used to be! - Edit
I used to always be able to count on The Nutmeg as my local organic vegan friendly shop however even Holland & Barrett have started to look healthier. I struggle to find more than one can of their organic coconut water which in my eyes is bad. I know they are a small store but I would have expected this store rather than Holland & Barrett to have it first! I can't even find Organic dried mangoes which is disappointing however they do the amazing Cliff Bars which gives them a point but have they just become the local vegan junk food retailer? It's better than being non-vegan but it's not optimal health.

The Nutmeg - Edit
This is a good wee shop and has looked after me for many years when vege food and snacks were limited. They are a friendly knowedgeable lot. They stock natural remedies, foods, teas, sweeties, and so on. I tend to get their "sausage" rolls, pakora and flapjacks.

Great things in a small place! - Edit
This is about the only vegan friendly place within walking distance from the town center. Its a small health food shop, but there is a tiny deli counter as you walk in on your right and its filled with vegan pastys, burritos, vegan sausage rolls, cakes, etc. For the size of the space they really pack a bunch of good stuff in there!
