Wry much curry you make at home. Spicy and about 8 options available.
Good value for Edinburgh

Great food, great portion sizes

Delicious food, generous portions, excellent value for money. It's also really quick so a great one if you don't have much time

A life saver during the Fringe

A very large plate of rice and curries is £6/£7, there are usually half a dozen clearly marked vegan options and you can be in and out quickly if you’re in a hurry. Wide selection of soft drinks.

Cheap and filling

My go-to when needing a cheap and quick full. Canteen style self-service. All vegetarian curries are vegan and so are the samosas. Unfortunately the naan bread is not. Prices have crept up over the years, but my favourite of rice and dal is £5.50.

Great canteen style restaurant with a great menu at a fantastic price, right in the heart of Edinburgh. I'd give 5 stars if I could! A must eat!

basic but fine

A lot of meat on offer with accompanying smells, but also classic veggie/vegan options: lentils, chickpeas, veg curry and more. Neither great quality or flavours but huge portions and low prices.

Nowhere Better

You can't come to Edinburgh without eating at Mosque Kitchen. It's a canteen style kitchen with a large choice of vegan curries and sides, all delicious.

Amazing briyani vegan choice!

Vegan choices are clearly stated on the dishes and portion is huge considering myself always having Asian portion, super value for money and one of the more delicious briyani I’ve had! Don’t be fooled by my 4🌟 rating, they do not allow 5🌟 for a non fully vegan restaurant.

Pros: Many vegan options, Friendly staff, Big and cosy space

I used to come here all the time as a student years back, pleased to say that the place hasn’t changed one bit and the food is just as delicious

Pros: Huge portions , Lots of clearly labelled vegan options , Good value for money and nice people

Affordable and Tasty

Well-impressed with the quality of food, good sized portions and reasonable prices. I'll definitely go back. Points deducted mainly for selling meat dishes and for using disposable plastic plates and cutlery.

Good value for money

Good functional curry when you’re in a rush. It was quite oily and could have been served warmer but it was tasty nonetheless.

Good plentiful food

Nice vegetable curries, daal etc. The rice is good too. There doesn’t seem to be a dress code. I recommend bringing your own cutlery if you don’t want to use plastic. ‘Pumpkin brown’ is a good cafe in Edinburgh (grass market) that sells a bamboo travel set.

Pros: Good vegan food, Big portions , Cheap

Cons: Plastic ‘disposable’ plates and cutlery

Cheap and cheerful curry in a hurry

With gorgeous curries served in big hearty portions for less than a fiver a pop, this is a brilliant place to get a satisfying meal on the cheap. The Mosque Kitchen use vegetable oil in their curries, so most of their vegetarian offering is also vegan friendly.

Every time I go with my husband, we always get the same thing. I get the mixed veg curry at around £3.50, while he gets the chana masala for £4.00. Add drinks to that, and we’re feeding ourselves for only a tenner. To be fair, there are absolutely no frills to this place – you have to go up to the canteen-style serving area to order and you’re lucky if you get a plate that isn’t made out of paper, but everything considered it’s not bad at all.

Pros: Very cheap, Very fast

Cons: Lacks atmosphere

Good flavours and value

A huge plate of Dahl and rice for £4.50, you can’t complain about that really. But the dahl is really amazing. All the curries are just well made with good quality ingredients. Loads of vegan options.

It is more canteen than restaurant but perfect for something quick and tasty without needing it to be fancy.

A must visit for a quick meal and a seat

Brisk canteen style service means you’ll always get a seat. They serve meat but they used vegetable oil rather than ghee and you will find at least 4 veggie curries suitable for vegans - bowl of rice plus 3 veggie curries is £7 - not high end Indian food but filling and tasty and you’ll be hugely grateful for it if you don’t have much time

Perfect lunch

Great place to stop at, has huge servings so you might want to consider sharing one. Not the nicest atmosphere but at those prices I'm not complaining :) the food tastes absolutely delicious!

Pros: Budget friendly , Big servings , Good food

Cons: impersonal atmosphere
