Lovely food - Edit
Lovely good quality food! Portobello mushroom starter was so good, wasn't the biggest fan of the fungi pizza but that was personal taste. Service was accommodating, moving us to a table upstairs when one became available after being seated by the window. Sadly service was slow, we were there about 2 hours.

Very good pizza - Edit
I ate one of the best vegan pizzas in The Moon. There didn't look to be that many vegan options, but they had vegan cheese and the chef made me an amazing spinach, mushroom and caramelised onion pizza. The base was crisp and the toppings tasted great.
Read moreThere was a vegan dessert that we didn't try and sorbet. But we were too stuffed!
If you want a good vegan pizza, then you won't be disappointed.
The staff were very good here too, friendly and good at their jobs.
Pros: Excellent pizza, Lovely staff
Cons: Even more vegan pizza choice, please! :)

Lovely restaurant who catered for a range of diets & helped us enjoy our evening - Edit
I accompanied two elderly relatives to this restaurant as their first time out having shielded for nearly 18 months now. The staff were so friendly and adapted the food to suit our particular requirements (1 vegan, 1 GF with allergies and 1 other). We had a relaxed and enjoyable meal; the food was cooked to a very high standard and presented beautifully.

Gorgeous food - fine dining in Kendal! - Edit
The only fine dining restaurant in Kendal - expect a small menu, with at least one vegan dish for each course. Wines are labelled vegan in the menu. Stunning food!

Exceptional vegan food - Edit
My partner and I had a gorgeous vegan meal here on our last night of a Lakes trip and we LOVED the experience. The ambience and service was superb and the vegan roasted cauliflower masala main we both had was some kind of alchemy, we savoured every mouthful.

A wonderful little find - Edit
Whilst staying overnight in Kendal we stumbled upon this little gem- a family run restaurant with separate vegetarian menu which was actually predominantly vegan! The food was absolutely scrumptious, well seasoned, freshly made, big portions - none of the half-assed dishes that I often encounter in London. They also have vegan wines. The staff was attentive, knowledgable and very polite. I honestly loved this place, can’t fault it at all (not that I’d try anyway). It’s a must when in Kendal. I’d give them 4* if I could.

Fabulous Vegan Options - Edit
The Moon Highgate is a family business, offering excellent vegan options, fabulous desserts, a wine list with clearly labelled vegan wines, so it is heaven for diners like me.
Read moreWe were celebrating as it was World Vegan Day, kicking off World Vegan Month, my 31st vegan anniversary and my husband had just finished Go Sober for October. We ordered a very nice bottle of Kintu Cabernet Sauvignon, whilst perusing the menu, a difficult choice, as everything sounded so good.
I chose salt baked beetroot salad, beetroot vinaigrette and walnuts to start and hubby king oyster mushroom confit with polenta, both excellent dishes.
My main course was roast Jerusalem artichokes, cavolo nero and baked spelt and pumpkin ravioli for hubby with sides of Chantenay carrots and a side salad to share. What satisfying autumnal dishes they were, totally delicious.
I was ruined for vegan dessert options, so ordered the bitter chocolate ganache and caramelised pineapple so we could share, how wonderful to have that choice, they were scrumptious and heavenly.
We had a quick chat with chef Leon, who said he felt a bit limited on vegan options, but having had some poor experiences over the last two weeks at other restaurants, I think he is underselling himself, I think he is very creative.
What a great place The Moon is, highly recommended to other vegans when in the area, we will certainly be making a return visit.

Fantastically inventive dedicated vegan menu. Presentation and execution were of a very high standard - I loved my truffle gnocchi! Good wine list with vegan options clearly marked.

Just Great! - Edit
Very nice harmonic atmosphere. We were sitting upstairs. Besides the normal menu, they have a special vegetarian menu. As a starter I had a soup (which is always vegetarian) which was very good! As a main course I had a tart of beetroot and something else I forgot, but it tasted very well. It also looked very good. The potatoes very also quite nice and the salat had a sauce, that was nice. In general, I would go there again!

Great risotto - Edit
Smart place that can cater for vegans. The manager offered me a risotto, which didn't sound too interesting, but when it arrived it was one of the best risottos I'd had in ages; flavours were sophisticated and texture was just right. I couldn't have any of the desserts, but you can't have everything. The toilet opens right off the seating area, which is a bit embarrassing.

Cons: No vegan desserts when I was there

Good for eating out with non-veggies - Edit
I'm vegan and I ate here with a group of 3 omnivores and 2 vegetarians on 22nd Dec 2011. I was provided with a vegan menu which presented 3 starter options and 3 main courses - but there was only 1 vegan dessert, which was sorbet. I was really pleased that the restaurant would make such an effort to accommodate vegans, as this hasn't been my experience in any other non-veg restaurtant! They were also very accommodating of other dietary needs (avoidance of shellfish). My food was very enjoyable, but not spectacular. I had a pear & walnut salad to start (which in my opinion would have benefitted from more walnuts) followed by a mushroom risotto (which was just right). The lacto-ovo veggies had the pear & walnut salad with goat's cheese, a tomatoey cheesey linguine pasta, and an aubergine/mozzarella bake. The service was very good.
Read morePros: central location, nice decor, very vegan friendly
Cons: a bit pricey, split over 2 levels, veggie options are cheese heavy
