Absolutely unexpected and incredible

Ok...You know what they say about the best restaurants are sometimes the most unassuming, well The Miznon was no exception. Located in a small (but large) fully vegan community in Dimona, I didn't know what to expect when we sat down to eat. We were greeted by a few lovely people who spoke perfect English and Hebrew with a southern U.S accent. Right then and there I knew we were in for an amazing meal. Even though they don't typically have very many G.F options on the menu, they were quick and happy to accommodate my partner and made her this incredible tofu dish and a potato/carrot salad. I had a bunch of (as they called it) "battered things" that were out of this world! They also served up a Quiche that was more of a spinach and cheese bagel and I am pretty sure I am going to be dreaming about that thing for the rest of my life. I would 100% recommend that anyone in the area stop in and try this restaurant out. You will NOT be disappointed.

Pros: Fully Vegan and happy to accommodate GF, Very very kind and fun people , Perfect English made it easy

Cons: I'm not still there eating their food

Great food! Friendly people!

We asked the owner for her recommendations. Had a great meal of delicious salad, chili and tofu/tempeh sandwiches.

The portions are extremely generous. The prices are very reasonable.

As others have mentioned, it's a bit hard to find. When you get to the neighborhood, just ask someone.

Note: There's a meat restaurant with the same name a block or two away.

The best meal i had in forever

The food is absolutely amazing. We had a tofu and seitán sandwich and OMG (that's the only way I can describe it)
The owner is super kind and has an amazing vibe.
The only con is that is super hard to find! After you park in the parking lot, ask someone around how to find it, save yourself from getting lost a couple of times

Cons: Hard to find

Vegan diner and soul!

Good food - better people! They definitely love their carbs and fat 😅 But what can I say, it tastes sooo good!
We ate a huge plate for 60 shekel and also got the hibiscus juice which was yummy and sugary.
We loved talking with the people and enjoyed the colourful vibes.
It is a little bit tricky to find the place though... When you park your car and standing with your face towards the village - go left😄

We also recommend visit Natanya, a charming old lady that has a small home made snacks and goodies kiosk right next to the parking lot. She looks like a painting and so nice to talk to.
Enjoy!

Pros: Good food, good people, unique experience

Cons: A litlle hard to find

Mixed bag

We followed directions, but good luck finding the place, especially if it's dark out. We finally found a little girl on a playground who led us there. Of course right now, it's take out only. But the staff wasn't even wearing masks. We ordered a "plate" and there weren't really options. The main portion was the mac'n'cheez. It had a nice creamy texture, but it was too salty and heavily flavored with nutritional yeast, so kind of last generation mac'n'cheez in my opinion. The seitan cutlets were really good, they seemed to be deep fried. The salad was tiny and we didn't like the dressing. It just tasted odd. The only veggie was greens, which I don't like, so my husband got both portions of them. He liked them a lot. The portions were huge, but still, not really cheap at all. Since the last reviewer, the price doubled to 60sh a plate?? We paid 120 for two plates which shocked me.

It's true that the seasoning in certain dishes may be too strong, took time for me to get used to it too, and to this day it's sometimes overpowering when they put too much haha
about the plate price, it's usually 40 so could have been that you ordered a plate and a side dish, which is usually 20.

Authentic vegan food from the Hebrew people in the Village of Peace in Dimona.

I have known this place for years and I'm a returning customer. this is my go to place for whenever I want to eat out without having to go to another city to do that. a super filling sandwich will cost as little as 20 shekels, prices may very. they are very generous with the amount of food they put on a plate, I always have leftovers.

The menu is kind of rotating, but throughout the week, they will have battered tofu, seitan, eggplant, and cauliflower, which you can get in a sandwich (with their homemade spreads and fresh veg of choice) or as a side with a dip.
Here's an example of some of the dishes they make so you know what to expect (I just don't know when they make them, so ask what's on the menu on that day to find out):
Potato salad, sauteed greens (like kale or broccoli leaves), potato casserole, eggplant casserole, mac & cheese (the best thing), mashed potatoes with gravy, cornbread
Dessert wise - there's usually a cake: pineapple/chocolate/cheese cake, apple pie.
Sometimes there's cookies or donuts. It's always a surprise.

On Fridays they serve breakfast/brunch which will most likely be a tofu scramble, pancakes, hash browns, veg patties, rice porridge..

4 times a year there's live food week, so there's a special menu with things like quinoa/buckwheat/wild rice/rice noodle salad (packed with flavor), veggie stir fry, sauteed greens.. and then there's some stuff you can eat as is or put in a sandwich - carrot salad, garlic tofu spread (both are the best thing in the world), marinated tofu, bean curd.
On live food week they have raw carob/lemon pies.

The Hidden Treasure of the Negev

After many years of great meals in Tel Aviv's "Taste of Life" Restaurant, we set out to find the original branch in Dimona. We were quite disappointed when we found the store sign lying on the ground, broken and derelict. When we asked about what happened to it, we were pointed to a small structure to further inquire. What we found was a tiny unknown oasis of brilliant food, called "The Miznon" (Hebrew for "Cafeteria") which is more similar to the original Taste of life in Tel Aviv, than the current Taste of Life is. The food was tremendous.

My Friend ordered the Vegetarian Pot Roast with some greens and I had it on a sandwich with some with some Prince Dressing and fried cauliflower on the side. With the exception of the fried cauliflower (which had been sitting out too long) The food was delicious homestyle vegan fare. Just like Taste of Life in the old days you could pick whatever veggies and sprouts you wanted in your salad or Sandwich and the service was delightful. We noticed they had a vegan soft serve Ice cream machine, but when I heard it was only vanilla I was disinclined. Fortunately, my friend bought a cup (and then another 2!!!) because it was the best and purest tasting vegan ice cream either of us had ever had.

Since then I have come back, only to discover, that this is the only place in Israel that sells Bean Curd Skins (often known as "vegetarian Duck") and with some prince or Jerusalem dressing it makes a sandwich where you are guaranteed to lick your plate clean.

To be clear, the place isn't fancy and they dont have a giant menu with a million options, but they have a few rotating mains and sides. It is a homey joint which is mostly frequented by locals, and the food is served cafeteria style. Overall it's fresh (they make all of their soy products there) the service is delightful and helpful, and the prices are unbeatable (15-30 Shekels for a huge meal). Altogether guaranteeing that you, and your tummy, will leave smiling!

Directions: Enter Dimona and continue straight to the end of Herzl st. you will then get to a traffic circle (which is the junction of Bar Lev st) continue straight onto Aliyah st. and then make the first left. Drive down the street (which is a dead end) and park towards the end on the right hnad side (in front of a school) from here cross the street with your back to the school. From here it is about 1 and a half blocks straight into the Hebrews neighborhood.
