Not as good as expected!

After reading the last review (albeit by a member of their own staff) we had high hopes for our Sunday lunch, but did not feel these were met. It was a Sunday and things may be different during the week. Our party consisted of two meat eaters, one vegetarian and one vegan. We found the dining area very crowded and noisy making conversation over lunch pretty difficult. When seated we asked for the separate Vegan menu and were told there isn't one, which was a surprise after the previous review, but there are a number of vegan dishes on the main menu. For the first course two of us had soup from the specials board but both found we needed to add quite a lot of seasoning to give it some flavour. The other starters were alright. The mains were generally OK, if not very interesting, except the Sweet Potato Roulade which had been very overcooked and was quite hard. Only two of us had deserts and we both had the Creme Brulee, which we both agreed were probably the best we have ever had. Overall, it looks like the vegan menu has gone but some dishes remain on the main menu. The staff were all very polite and helpful. The food was alright but not great. We didn't leave hungry, but we won't be back.

Vegan Menu!

I'll be honest, I work here. But only part time. I pushed for Kings Mead to be on Happy Cow because they don't just have a vegan option, they have a vegan menu. Courgetti is realllyyyyy good, the lemon cheesecake is to die for. The burger needs developing. The hummus is as lovely as hummus always is. And so on, and so on. 😁

Pros: a few vegan options. separate menu.

Cons: the Malbec isn't vegan. ☹️
