Tasty breakfast - Edit
Today we went there for breakfast, we chose toast with vegan egg, sweet toast with peanut paste, jam and banana, hot chocolate and latte with oat milk. The hostess is a very nice woman, the peanut butter for toast was fresh, as there is also a healthy snack shop in the next room. The food was great, the coffee was wonderful, although I have never seen bad coffee in Japan, they accept credit cards. The menu is quite small, but it is quite enough for breakfast.

A perfectly quant breakfast from a very sweet mother-daughter duo - Edit
When we arrived a couple minutes before they opened at 8am, we were greeted by the owner who let us take a seat while her and her daughter finished preparing to open. Love that it’s a mother-daughter duo. They were both so lovely and friendly!
Read moreWe ordered the following:
- Plant Based Egg Set which comes with a small lentil soup, quinoa salad, and chia pudding (which happened to be apple cinnamon although the seasonal ingredients change)
- Organic Peanut Butter & Strawberry Jam & Banana Toast
- hot chocolate with oat milk
- banana muffin (to-go)
- peanut butter banana oatmeal cookie (to-go)
Everything was delicious and so thoughtfully assembled! I was pleasantly surprised by the plant based egg texture and flavor that was made of tofu. The owner can provide additional black salt if you’re looking for more “egg” flavoring. The peanut butter on the toast was freshly made which was reflected in the rich texture and flavor.
Also, check out their store with various locally sourced vegan snacks and ingredients next door!
So wish I could come back again, but so glad I could experience it on my last day in Kyoto

Make sure you come here for breakfast! - Edit
Not many places open in time for an early is breakfast but this place does. I’d suggest arriving early to get a table. It was very busy when we arrived at 9:30 and we waited a short time for a table. I ordered the “egg” toast with a chia pudding and a smoothie. They brought out the pepper to make the tofu have that “eggy “ taste and it was delicious. The bread was delicious too. I love bread with seeds in it. The chia pudding was nice too. My partner had the peanut butter and strawberry jam toast with a side of chia pudding. He also had an oat milk hot chocolate which he enjoyed. The smoothie was nice too. Everything was nicely presented, the cafe looks nice and there is a bulk foods shop too. I just bought some chocolate as I’m finding vegan chocolate hard to source here.

The plant based egg toast and the mushroom toast were so good, and with them you can take the set menù with lentil soup, salad and chia pudding (I don't known if it is always the same or if it changes every day). In addition we took a cookie and a muffin. Everything was incredible! The place is really lovely and the owner is very very nice and kind.

Tasty food and sweet owners - Edit
Had the mushroom humus toast, which was very tasty along with a fermented rice drink, amazake I think, forgive me I misspelt it, it was great by itself and with some fermented ginger. Also had a good conversation with the owners about life in Kyoto, recommendations, etc.. Would definitely recommend.

The Vegan Dream - Edit
This place was our favourite to grab breakfast in Kyoto. Everything is fully vegan with many GF options, the food is so incredible I fear I may never eat this well again, and the owners, a mother and daughter duo were excellent hosts. Extremely kind and lovely to talk to. Not to mention there is a store in the cafe with jars and jars full of plant-based snacks (chocolate, nuts, vegetable chips, dried fruit, and more) and ingredients that are so delicious! If you’re vegan in Kyoto this should be your number one stop!

An Absolute Must-Visit for Breakfast! - Edit
If I could give 10 stars, I would. This charming restaurant and bulk shop is run by an endearing mother/daughter team, and we cannot stop smiling after breakfast just now. I had the avocado/sauerkraut toast set, which was the perfect amount of food, and my partner had the scrambled tofu/"egg" set. We were blown away by the flavor of the scrambled tofu, which tasted even better than eggs! Our mouths were agape at how tasty they were. My partner is still talking about it, saying that eggs should try to taste like that tofu, instead of the other way around.
Read moreOutside of the toasts, each accompanying dish had its own outstanding flavor. The quinoa salad had a slightly acidic dressing that complimented the veggies in it, and the lentil soup had a slight sweetness from sweet potato, and it felt very hearty. The chai puddings comically came in shot glasses, and were both very flavorful with the fruit, without needing added sugar. We were so delighted to not only have a flavorful vegan breakfast, but probably the healthiest one of our entire trip.
Additionally, the matcha latte with soy milk was one of the best I have had in Japan. My partner tried the amazake latte, which is a fermented rice drink . They ferment the rice on the premises, and it has a lovely smooth texture, as nd slight sweetness to it. Definitely worth trying!
