Good choice - Edit
A few dishes to choose from, all very fine looking. It’s a small shop with an open front. The food was good. I particularly liked the spring rolls.

Close to Deliciousness - Edit
Although we certainly have eaten tastier Banh Mi and Pho in Vietnam, this place offers very good substitutes. We would recommend going for the standard versions as the fancier ones dont really justify their price.

The Kind Bowl - Somerset (Singapore) - Edit
All vegan with flavour packed food. Their delicious salad dressing makes for a delicious salad. There's chilli thrown quite liberally in most dishes; in at least some (e.g. the salad), it would be better if the chilli is optional.
Read moreI'm already aware its mandated in Loving Hut franchises that propaganda videos promoting the lady behind Loving Hut, are to be shown during opening hours. Top stop - Edit
One hour after arriving in Singapore, my HappyCow app led me to The Kind Bowl. This is why I love the Cow—what a great first choice.
Read moreIt was a busy Saturday night, and the only seating option was outside. Coming from Scotland, I found the warm, 33°C evening quite appealing—no rain, just a pleasant atmosphere.
We started with some summer rolls, which came with a spicy satay dip that hit the spot. The mains were chic with rice—a classic Southeast Asian vegetable option that was well-received. The BBQ went down a storm, featuring various BBQ items and spring rolls on top, making my 13-year-old very happy.
I opted for the No Crab Ramen, which was fantastic. Thick ramen-style rice noodles, lots of tomatoes, and two types of tofu. The heat gradually built up, and I needed several tissues to stem the sweat.
Overall, The Kind Bowl is a great option that I would happily recommend. 🫶

Solid Vietnamese - Edit
Haven’t had pho for a while so decided to order the Ha Noi pho and some fresh summer rolls. Although the bowl of pho is small for the price it tasted great. Plenty of meat in it and the broth was amazing. The rolls were great too with what appeared to be pepper inside of them. The peanut sauce was good. Would love to come back and try the banh mi

We tried the Saigon Delight (Bahn mi with Omni luncheon), which came with a hot and sour soup, the summer rolls and the Bahn xeo (Vietnamese pancake). All the food was super tasty, fresh and light. We also had the pea flower lemonade - a bit pricy, but yum. I’d definitely go back. #Veganuary

Ethical and sustainable food, yet affordable - Edit
We didn’t know what to go for so we ordered their most popular dishes: ‘No chic’ rice and The Kind Pho. Their ‘no chic’ (short for ‘no chicken’) is usually made of seitan, but if you’re gluten-free they can replace it with tofu wrapped with rice paper – very realistic! And in case you don’t like your food too spicy, they leave your spices on the side for you to decide. Both meals were so yummy!

Cons: You need to go at the counter to order your food

A truly forgettable experience 🥲 - Edit
Two stars, but just for some of the food 🍲 Some dishes are great, others are good, while some are bad. Service and atmosphere are not good at all.
Read morePremium Pho was good, loads of vegan meats inside, but the broth itself was forgettable. Good but nothing special. Fresh herbs 🌿, which was good!
Tropical Salad was amazing! Loads of fresh veggies, a delicious, well balanced sauce, heaps of peanuts and delicious mock meat. 🥗
V-Wings was so bad, I took one bite and threw the rest away. It’s a stick of mushroom or tofu surrounded by minced mushroom and beancurd, breaded, then fried. It was swimming in oil, wasn’t warm or crispy, and tasted like it was prepared earlier in the day and then reheated in the fryer to be served. Hated it, especially for SG$6.8.
Now to the service and atmosphere… I had a reservation but it was forgotten - no problem, can happen. So I waited 20 minutes for my table to be free. Sat down, having had enough time to decide what I want to order. No one came and took my order, after 15 minutes of sitting and trying to get a staffs attention, I was told that I need to order at the counter - why didn’t you tell me when I sat down? You then order at the counter, get a buzzer, wait for it to go off and go get your own food and walk it to your table. There’s also a station where you have to get your cutlery. There is basically no service at all. This makes the place feel more like a fast food restaurant than an actual, top rated restaurant. I won’t be back, especially because of the rushed and uncomfortable atmosphere.
Pros: The tropical salad

Truth in advertising. When they say spicy it’s spicy - Edit
The Oyster Mushroom Fritters at this place were a delightful start, living up to the expectation for mushroom lovers. The Royal Spicy Bowl, however, is not for the faint of heart—bold flavors with slippery noodles made for a challenging, spice-packed experience. The Saigon Delight sandwich, featuring caramel soy slices and barbecue sauce on a baguette, was just okay, lacking the wow factor for a repeat order. Overall, a mixed experience with hits and misses on the spice scale and taste preferences.

Generous portions and comfortable seating - Edit
The BBQ delight was good but not mind-blowing. I liked the mix of mushrooms and seitan in the skewers. I also got the boba drink, which was nice and not overly sweet. Note that this place does not take credit card. It only accepts NETSPay, cash and Grab Pay. Food arrived quite quickly and it’s set up as self-serve (you have to order and pay at the counter, collect your food and cutlery).

Cozy, cheerful place, delicious comforting food - Edit
I went here with a very large group of 24 or so people. We all had ordered different things and it's a small, cozy place. The food was amazing. I had spring rolls with a baguette sandwich , banh mi, and both were delicious. There was a shortage of plates so it was hard to eat the spring rolls with the tasty sauces with a napkin as a plate but still yummy all the same. I will definitely return often for a comforting lunch.

Food is good without being mind blowing. It’s not really ‘pan Asian’, it’s pretty much Vietnamese, if you ask me.
