Nice little pub, maritime themed as you’d expect of the location. Vegan options clearly marked on the menu and choices are not the usual plant based burger etc! Had the BEETROOT & POTATO FRITTERS, small but very tasty! Fruit crumble for dessert was also real nice!
This is one of my locals and they have a good choice of vegan options! They used to have more before Covid, however are currently running a reduced menu which I understand. The reduced menu options are curry based which is fine but not if you don’t like spice however if you look at the kids section the mezze platter is lush!
This was my first meal out since turning vegan, we were with family, I didn't know where we were going or if there would be anything on the menu I could eat, so I was worried to say the least.
What a lovely surprise it was to see so many vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. I really did feel spoilt for choice. Everything was labelled very clearly with (v) or (vg) and there were options in every part of the menu.
We had gone for lunch, I had the Falafel Burger and swapped the Brioche bun for toasted Focaccia as the menu suggests, to make it vegan. It even came with a little pot of vegan garlic mayo! It was all sooo tasty! I could see the meat eaters on the table eyeing up my plate too.
For dessert, I had the Vegan chocolate and coconut torte with almond cream. It was so rich and delicious. They also had lots of different flavours of vegan ice cream that I would have loved to have tried, but I thought ordering two desserts was a bit cheeky..?!
I am not local to the area but I really hope I get to go back to The Jolly Sailor to try some of their other dishes. The Sunday roast sounded good! The menu is on their website.
Overall, we had a lovely meal in relaxed surroundings with good service. I would recommend this pub to any vegan or vegetarian and especially to those eating in a group with meat eaters as well, there was something for everyone.
