Worth the Wait - Edit
Amazing food, a saying I don’t use lightly. Wish I could give a 5 star rating because I had a starter, entree, and dessert, all vegan. The haggis stack was so yummy, the cauliflower steak was the best I’ve ever eaten, and the torte with ice cream was to die for. I would definitely go back, if ever in the area again.

Get your vegan haggis here! ✨ - Edit
Got my very first haggis here, the cognac sauce was deliciouuuuuus. It had a potato purée base. I combined it with the soup of the day which was super comforting and well-seasoned.

Hearty pub food - Edit
Winter menu had a mushroom and cauliflower stroganoff with braised greens (cabbage and tenderstem broccoli) and mashed potato. It was lovely and very filling. Also a vegan burger as a special on offer.

Wonderful pub but average food - Edit
We really loved this pub and it was a wonderful experience to be there. The interior, the decoration, the folk music (though not live) - it is exactly like you imagine a pub in Scotland. However, the food was a bit disappointing. Apparently the menu changes with the season, and when we visited they only had the soup of the day, a risotto and a cake for dessert. We both had the risotto and it was ok, but not super delicious or special. It is also not a very filling meal as a main.
Read moreWe walked past this restaurant several times and it was always packed. We were lucky to get a table at 4.00pm and it emptied a bit by 4.30pm, so you should go off peak times if you want to make sure you get a table (we visited in late October, so it must be even busier in summer).

Pros: Quaint and traditional, Great location (main square of Portree)

Dinner - Edit
Delicious vegan burger and a few ciders to join. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. A must visit when in town. They offered a vegan soup but I was “souped out”.

Vegan burger is pretty good - Edit
Nice atmosphere and good vegan burger for pretty good price. Other vegan options in Portree require pre booking and are more expensive. You must get the vegan torte for dessert it was so good! If you are vegan in Portree this place is a great option

Tasty pub food - Edit
I struggled to find a vegan dinner option in Portree and thought this place was great. Cosy wee pub and they had a plant based burger option in a tasty pretzel bun.

Decent pub food - Edit
Seems like they used to have more options. We ended up going twice when in Portree bc other stuff was not really open for various reasons. The daily soup was always vegan and they also had vegan fish and chips (really just giant grilled cheeses) and a burger. And maybe one dessert.
Read moreThe quality of the food was fine, but nothing super special. It was comforting pub food after a long day of hiking and/or being rained on, though.
Place is suuuuper busy, especially in summer (duh) so don't go during peak hours or be prepared to wait a very long time to be seated.
Pros: Nice staff, Comfort food, soup is vegan
Cons: Limited options

Decent vegan choices - Edit
Nice authentic restaurant and pub with decent vegan choices such as vegan sandwich, vegan fish & chips, a vegan burger and vegan soup of the day. Very delicious but a little bit pricey. They have a great variety of drinks as well.

Great vegan options - maybe best in Portree? - Edit
Nice old time inn/pub/tavern - with a cozy fireplace right at the town square. They had several marked vegan items on the menu - the veggie burger was fabulous (the chili was some mix between BBQ and sweet jalapeno maybe?), and the vegan fajitas were also great (with vegan cheese and sour cream!). Seems like they rotate the menu, but always keep multiple vegan items on it. Would definitely go back!

Don’t go if you’re vegan - Edit
We had vegan cheese replaced with regular cheese, a “cajun pasta sauce” which we’re sure was just sweet chili sauce and cream (incredibly sweet and bland), missed items from our order, etc.

Fantastic vegan options - Edit
By far the best place in Portree that we found. Several vegan options on the menu (including macaroni cheese, burgers, starter and desert). We had two courses and were very full. The desert was delicious and generously sized! Very friendly service and attentive despite being busy.

Outstanding vegan food - Edit
Had to wait a while for the table - however, the bartenders were amazing. Anyway - worth the wait. They had a vegan special for the starter, sweet potato and falafel balls with sweet chilli sauce. Main was vegan burger with vegan cheese and a lovely side salad. Staff incredible. Can’t recommend enough! Thank you!

Ok - Edit
They had a couple of vegan options. I got the vegan burger. Maybe we chose poorly, but both my vegan burger and my partner's non-vegan burger were very small. We ended up going to the co-op after to get some snacks. There are better places to get food in Portree. Every time we have been the staff have been very surly and unwelcoming.
