Causal and easy - Edit
I stayed in the hostel attached to the cafe so this place was really convenient! The zigzag bowl was tasty and the kombucha was really good!

Vegan options available - Edit
The vegan breakfast option is available offering vegan sausage. Great service and decent amount of seating. Corner location with true Portland style street parking. It's definitely worth a try.

Five Stars Actually (OK 4.5) - Edit
I can't say enough good things about the venue (and that includes the Hostel itself, as I'm a first-time guest here and VERY impressed!)
Read moreMost hostels (not all, as I've discovered) at LEAST offer a breakfast of coffee, tea, juice and bagels or toast, with spreads (some vegan; some not)and/or cereal. Well, THIS hostel has its very own Cafe on the premises, which offers hostel guests a CHOICE of the usual complimentary breakfast OR the "upgrade" which is to choose from the cafe's extensive menu along with a $2 discount on the bill plus free coffee refills.
The café itself is open from morning till late at night, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as snacks and baked goods, coffee, tea, juice, and other beverages. Appetizers/starters, soups, entrees, and sides are all prepared from scratch, and the quality of the food, preparation, and service equals, and in some cases, surpasses that of other standalone venues.
If you should ever find yourself in Portland, Oregon, and regardless if you are a guest of NW Portland International Hostel & Guesthouse (which I don't know why you WOULDN'T be!) I highly recommend The Hostel Cafe.
Pros: Staff is friendly and warm; excellent service, Plenty of Vegan options and items can be Veganized, Setting, atmosphere is beautiful

Yummy eats and plenty of options! - Edit
Quite a few really good vegan options and staff are lovely, super handy if you're staying at the hostel. Only thing I would say is I wish it was busier and had more of a vibe. Apart from that would definitely reccomend.

Really good vegan options - Edit
I would give this place 5 stars if I could! They have a good mix of vegan and vegetarian options! I loved there TLT Sandwich (tofu-lettuce-tomato)! Also they have tofu fries and they can make a vegan burger as well! Highly recommend!
