A few vegan options, clearly labelled - Edit
The Herringbone is a decent place to eat. There are a few vegan options for both starters and mains.
Read moreI live in North Berwick, so personally I’d like it if they changed up the vegan options from time to time. They’ve had a chickpea and squash burger (that comes on a dry flatbread) on the menu for years and years. The vegan starters tend to be more adventurous and change more often than the mains.

Meh - Edit
They dont have the vegan menu anymore, but have a few dishes (i believe four or so) that are labeled vegan on the menu.
Read moreWe had the vegan burger (that isn’t really a burger btw, since it’s made with pita bread, it’s more like a big wrap) and it was good! The fries were also nice. We had also the hummus and olives : that was really good, but there were like 3 olives on the plate and one single pita bread.
And I made the mistake of ordering the “curry” which really wasn’t! It was all watery like they had poured a glass of water on the plate..not creamy and thick like a curry’s supposed to be, and the taste was also not at all like a curry!
However, when asked if everything was good we said that the curry was watery and they took 50% of it on the bill, which was a nice gesture.
Staff was nice but the service was soo slow! We received the hummus (starter) after the burgers..

A bit mediocre - Edit
Lots of vegan options on savory menu but no dessert, food presented didn't really live up to menu descriptions eg 'flat breads' were stale tortilla wraps

Inviting options and locally sourced ingredients - Edit
I was not expecting to find many vegan options in a small village like North Berwick, yet the Herringbone had plenty! I wasn't very hungry so I only got a starter (bread, olives, oils) and two sides (sweet potato fries and sautéed potatoes), but they also had a beetroot risotto, veg haggis, a chickpea and squash burger, and many sides. I really liked my dishes, simple but incredibly tasty and ingredients locally sourced. Wines clearly marked vegan too!

I’ve been to the Herringbone a few times and every time I get the chickpea and squash burger, it comes served on a warm wrap with mango chutney! Absolutely delicious!!!

Great Vegan Food!!!! - Edit
This is the first time to Scotland and what a lovely way to start it at this restaurant.
Read moreLovely friendly staff, huge array of drinks including some nice alcohol-free options.
Very chilled atmosphere, pets are allowed.
The vegan menu was very good we ordered 3 of the chickpea and squash burger, the 'bun' was actually a very tasty grilled wrap that tasted similar to a japati. Served with fries a small Bombay mix and lovely mango chutney.
We also had bread and olives and gnocchi for starters.
The olive that came with two oil dips, one was balsamic the other I think was pesto.
We finished it off with a almond and pear tart with sorbet ice cream.
It was absolutely excellent.
Oh and the strong flavoursome coffee with hot oat milk was divine.
Pros: Separate vegan menu, animal friendly, very genuine, Nice interior
Cons: I can't actually think of any.

Really cozy bar and restaurant with friendly and attentive staff. Lots of vegan options (according to earlier comments the menu must have been updated), which is always nice!

Impressive Vegan menu - Edit
For a small town like North Berwick, it is great to see a restaurant with a dedicated Vegan menu with a great variety of choices. I recommend the slow roasted tomatoes, cauliflower and roquette salad. Delicious!

Nice vegan menu - Edit
Vegan menu updated regularly, we had a good burger with chips and cauliflower with mashed potato - unfortunately not sure it really was vegan as tasted like goat cheese.

Generous & tasty vegan menu - Edit
Two of us shared the large jackfruit spring rolls, a chickpea & squash burger and a cashew nut curry. All were very tasty, with the (mild) curry particularly nicely spiced. Portions were generous.
Read moreLooks as if they've cunningly designed a number of vegan meals for which meat is an optional extra on the main menu.
They did admit that their vegan menu is very new though, and some of the desserts weren't yet available; would definitely have given the cashew cheese with poached figs a try if we could have.
Good range of drinks, from beer through wine to a very attractive range of cocktails.
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Nice atmosphere
Cons: Vegan desserts coming in May 2018!, Beer range misses out on modern "craft" stuff
