One of the OG vegan spots in Hamilton - Edit
This is one of the best and healthiest vegan eateries in Hamilton. Unfortunately it is closing after this long weekend after over 8 yrs of going strong. Tons of healthy vegan options and always served with a smile. This place will be missed.

Fabulous food. - Edit
I cannot say enough about how much we loved the food we got here 💕 Between us we got a Falafel Bowl and a Chick/Avo sandwich, and Electric Banana and Expresso Yo’Self smoothies. We added in a treat of Chocolate Macaroons. The food was fresh and delicious and generous in serving size. We eat WFPB, and to find a cafe with this quality food while visiting the area was a heavenly treat. Thank you!! We will be back!

Their desserts were gross. - Edit
I don’t normally leave 2 star reviews but the desserts here were terrible. There were 3 of us and we each got a gluten free cake. All were overly sweet and heavy… burping them up for hours afterwards. I suppose if your used to eating junk food than maybe you’d like them but we found them to be practically inedible.

Sunday Breakfast date - Edit
Nice interior. We sat in a booth. Beautiful presentation, was colourful and creative. I had the breakfast bowl and didn’t like the tofu scramble, but my bf thought it tasted ok. The chipotle sauce was very spicy, wish it said that on the menu!

Came on a Monday as Rise Above was closed. Food was great- had the Bombay burrito with cauliflower and potatoes- delicious. Really enjoyed the fried chick peas on the side too. Shared a Purple people eater smoothie with my spouse, he and I both liked the thickness and genuine fruit flavours.

10/10 first impression! - Edit
Our first visit we grabbed breakfast and lunch to go- chia pudding, juice (pre-made), burrito, baja bowl, kale chips and a brownie - all this for 2 of us $75 - to make it through a day of air travel back to Vancouver - we loved everything! Service was great too!!

Decent food, limited selection - Edit
Formerly one of the only legitimately vegan and healthy options in Hamilton, now Green Bar is up against some stiffer competition.
Read moreInstead of upping their game, they have actually reduced the options on their menu (sadly, some of the better options). Nevertheless, the food is still a good, quick option.
Pros: Quick, Healthy , Friendly
Cons: Limited selection , A bit bland/boring

Good food, ok smoothies - Edit
I went with my omni boyfriend and the highlight for me was him getting a non-vegan grilled cheese the day after we had been here and him saying it wasn’t as good as the one from Green Bar! Seriously, the grilled cheese is fantastic. I had a Bombay burrito which was very tasty and I really loved that they both came with roasted chickpeas - delicious! We both got smoothies as I figured a smoothie place would have good ones but I wasn’t that impressed. I had a pumpkin spice as it was a fall special but I didn’t get any pumpkin or spice flavour - it just tasted like banana! My boyfriend had the tropical green smoothie which was slightly better but I agree with the other reviewer who mentioned that they weren’t really cold enough for my preference. Maybe I chose wrong but think I would go with kombucha on my next visit.

Love this find in Hamilton - Edit
My first visit was amazing. I had the Mac n Cheeze (no avacado) and the Havana Burger and it was all soooooo good. I crave it now. My Omni friend was in Hamilton 2 days ago and i asked him to pick me up some food and even he loved the burger and he usually mocks vegan food. Can't wait to go back. The macaroons and cookies were delicious.

What's better than their smoothies? Their food! - Edit
I've visited the GSB off and on since its arrival because they have a great storefront and location (just a short walk from the core downtown area) and they're always packed with fresh food that leaves you feeling pretty darn good about your body!
Read moreI've enjoyed their smoothies, but I'm the kind of person who will make tons of huge smoothies at home using frozen and fresh fruits and veg, so their portions are a little small for me, and none of the smoothies come with that refreshing chill you get from throwing a few frozen banana chunks in the blender back home. Still, they've got a wide range of tasty and enticing smoothie flavours, but what I REALLY love about GSB is their food menu.
The desserts LOOK small, but will leave you in a euphoric food coma. The same goes with their rice/noodle/veg bowls - it has some magical tofu in it, and flavours that I will never be able to duplicate at home. Whenever I end up at the GSB these days, I just head straight for the food!
As a con... sometimes the people working there just seem really grumpy/too busy to serve me, even if I'm the only person in the store? I don't want to be rude to the people who run this lovely establishment in any way, but if my social anxiety was any worse, the "attitude" of some of the employees would probably scare me into never coming back. They fit the stereotypical "I'm too good to deal with people like you" elitism. Which is weird, because I'll show up on a different day and be greeted by some of the nicest servers!
Pros: All Vegan Fare, Super Healthy (But Still Delicious), Open Most Days
Cons: Where's My Giant Smoothie?, Why Are You So Angry

Great atmosphere, good smoothies, awesome service. - Edit
Had a great first visit today. I had the chocolate cherry and the hubby had the Tanya. We couldn't decide what we wanted at first so the girl behind the counter took us through our options. She was very informative, extremely friendly and even gave my 1 year old daughter some dried cherries to keep her happy. The atmosphere is bright and happy. The stuffed broccoli included. The smoothies were yummy and my daughter loved the chocolate cherry flavour. Only comment is once again no baby change station. What is with all these vegan places I go to not having appropriate baby gear for customers. Vegans have kids too!!

They care... - Edit
This place has a good supply of super-foods to add to a smoothie. Great options. Happy it's organic. Expensive. They could get some more food options in. Their collard wraps are not as flavourful as one would hope based on their flavour titles. Very bland. Great space though and a refreshing vibe for James North. A good start to something that has potential to be great.

Goes Down Easy - Edit
I was thrilled to take my family to Hamilton's first raw vegan smoothie bar tonight. My six year old daughter, who refuses to drink the green smoothies I make at home, ordered and happily devoured a pineapple-peach green smoothie and then promptly asked for another. I enjoyed a banana-peach smoothie which was creamier and less acidic than what I expected. The space is quite large, with several tables and is absolutely spotless, including the bathrooms. I look forward to trying more smoothies from the menu and hope they will soon add some food items to the menu.
