Excellent Diverse Vegan Restaurant - Edit
What a find. The Grain Cafe offers a variety of foods from traditional American breakfasts to a Reuben sandwich, a Dragon roll and their specialties based on Oaxaco Mexican cuisine. They also have a variety of savory and sweet crepes.
Read moreThey creatively use tempeh, seitan, tofu and cashew-based tuna to provide tasteful myriad dishes with ample protein. The tuna salad was superb as was the Dragon roll. The Reuben sandwich was a delicate balance of creamy thousand island dressing, tangy sauerkraut and marinated tempeh.
The beautiful desserts are a perfect example of healthy, successful vegan baking without using unhealthful coconut oil. I had the Tres Leche cake which was superb.
The service was attentive and friendly. It was apparent that the 3 different wait staff I came across sincerely enjoy their jobs.

Called in on a Sunday evening - place was dead but our server was great. Too many options to choose from! Went for the Fiesta (for two people to share) and wasn’t disappointed. Looking forward to coming back to try some menu items. Pizza and roast potatoes?!

Our Go To in the area but service can be hit or miss... - Edit
We visit the Redondo Beach area quite regularly and this is our go to vegan spot. All in all it is great... lots of options and nice variety. One of our favourites are the crepes and the cakes are always tasty and very moist. Menu definitely has a lean towards Mexican food.
Read moreNormally when we visit it is quiet and chilled out but our most recent visit on New Years Day 2020 was not the best. The place felt understaffed and it got really busy... we had to wait ages to be served and for our order to be taken. We also had to wait over 20min to receive our drinks. All in all the whole meal took over 90min which is crazy.
On a personal note: for me it’s all about the details... why would you serve almond/oat milk lattes and use a brand of milk that separates upon heating or adding to tea/coffee? Use a better quality brand or don’t offer it as there is nothing worse than having to deal with a hot drink that has milk that has separated.(especially when you’re laying $4-5 per drink)
The particularly bad service might just be a one off so we will give the benefit of the doubt and return again to give another chance as we do like it and have had good previous experiences.

I come here multiple times during every visit that I make to the area. Extensive menu with great breakfast options. Get something with tempeh. Good drink and smoothie options and fabulous cakes. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. We have a nut-allergy in the family and they took it very seriously.

I went here twice during my stay in the area. There’s no host, so seat yourself and they’ll bring you a menu. Might take a few minutes, but after that the service was really good, and my meals came quickly.
Read moreThe food is filling and really hits the spot. I had the delux burger on my first visit and the garden wrap with tempeh bacon on my second visit. Both were good and the veg seemed fresh. I also got the lemon cake to go one night. It was the perfect balance of sweet and moist.

A very homey resturant that has authentic tasting Mexican food. I love the options available all around, from main courses and dessert to smoothies and other beverages. Sure the food is a bit pricey but I believe it is worth the taste.

Thw Grain cafe serves delicious food. Cafe itself is very cosy, with great music and atmosphere. Staff is very attentive and kind, happy to advise. I had amazing breakfast vegan omelette with vegan horchata followed by warm walnut brownie. What a way to start a day! Hope to be back soon!
