Comedy of errors

Where to start? Disappointed they weren’t serving vegan fish and chips the day we visited so we ordered vegan pasties. We waited over 20 minutes for them only to find when we started eating them what looked like a large chunk of meat inside. We went back to double check if it was vegan meat or not, they apologised and made us the real vegan ones and gave us (bad) coffee on the house. The waitress then handed us new boxes and I thought I’d check inside just incase- we had someone else’s (meat) sandwich order! When our food came, the pasties were clearly visibly different, so it was a huge oversight. They weren’t properly cooked either, barely browned and raw pastry… this pastry was clearly different too so we must have eaten non vegan pastry. The bean filling was passable. We missed the sunshine on our walk, the whole palaver really was not worth the time. We’ll never go again.

Amazing vegan options w/great views!

Oh my, the vegan battered sausages and chips were terrific. Everything was cooked to perfection and the chips were so tasty (fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside). Highly recommended. The kiosk at the end of the pier also sells vegan vanilla ice cream in a tub. Wheelchair accessible but steepish ramp, not much room inside and tables aren't easy to get under.

Pros: Lots of choice, Location - beautiful views, Bottles of sauces on the table

Cons: Serves non-vegan food, Pay to get onto pier to get to restaurant

Amazing seaside food

Who knew banana blossom could taste so good! They take such care with the vegan food by given home made vegan tar tar and ketchup which is lovely. The staff reassure you right away that is all vegan. I feel very cared for here. I’ve been told the chef is vegan and would like to one day make his whole menu vegan.

Pros: Battered sausages and fish option are the best , Traditional sea side food , Lovely restaurant with a lovely view

Cons: Opening times are very short , Pay to get on the pier to visit the restaurant

Unexpectedly ok

Battered sausage and chips on the pier - what’s not to like. Nothing fancy but tasty and well done. Cake too!

Amazing vegan fish and chips

This is a lovely place situated on clevedon pier and their banana blossom fish and chips is easily the best I’ve had. Really tasty batter, well cooked with chunky chips and a good tartar sauce. They also have other vegan options including sausage and chips, and a super food salad with a baji- both really tasty but I get drawn to the banana blossom most times!

Excellent find

First visit to Clevedon and as we wandered back from the end of the pier noticed the board outside The Glass Box advertising vegan food.

There was a lot of choice, see the photo, and we chose the pie, served with chips and mushy peas. It was well presented and delicious. The pie had a beetroot red crust and was full of umami seitan and lentils. The chips were hot and crispy and the peas were mushy.

Certainly recommend a visit if you are in the area.
The cafe is on the pier, so you also have to pay for entrance to the pier.

Also make sure you visit the porthole room downstairs near the toilets. You get a great view of the pier from this unusual position.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Delicious food, Friendly staff

Cons: Quite small so could get busy
