Nothing vegan on the menu

This place had a menu with ‘vegan’ in the legend, however had nothing vegan or optional vegan on the menu…or in the cabinet.
When we asked, we were told that one of the salads could be made vegan. It was wild rice and edamame with lettuce and they could change the dressing to make it vegan. We added falafels for an extra $6 added onto the $18 for the original salad.
Well the salad was mostly lettuce with not even a handful of rice and edamame. The dressing was potentially just vegan mayo. Very bland. The falafels were dry.
I really do appreciate when businesses, especially in rural towns, make an effort when asked. But we would not have gone there if they weren’t have reported to have any options. Our information could have been out of date.

Pros: Gave an option

Cons: Felt ripped off, Bland food, Misleading menu

Black rice Buddha bowl

Aka “garden salad” it had about 2 tablespoons of black rice and the rest was lettuce. It also had a HALLOUMI burger on the menu labelled as vegan. It’s a shame because last time I was here it was good, now they’ve changed the menu and it’s all different.

Be cautious with veggie breakfast

My partner and I went to the Gilles Cafe for lunch and ordered the veggie breakfast without eggs. We told them that we were trying to make it vegan but when we got the food there was sourdough toast with butter on it. If ordering from here, just explain to the staff what vegan means specifying no eggs, butter or any other animal products. The juices we had were really refreshing though.

Pros: Great juices

Cons: Explain vegan meaning to staff
