Gourmet Vegan Art - Edit
My friend and I where in the area and wanted to try this restaurant as I had heard it was vegan food art. We were not disappointed. We ordered the kale chips and the hummus with a couple of cocktails each. My favourite was the Hibiscus Cooler cocktail. This vegan restaurant is modeled after traditional fine dining resturants where you order 3 courses and can fit it all in without feeling over full. The food is artwork and very creative and all plant based (no mock meats here). That being said, portions are small and the bill might dent your wallet slighlty (not for a backpackers budget) however this restaurant is in a class of its own. Its not everyday you get to eat at a vegan fine dinning restaurant where the food is inspirational, created with love and where the service is without a fault.

WORTH EVERY PENNY - Edit
I spent over $100 here and was proud of it. My finances are not top grade but this place is like a splurging on a spa. you will feel amazing. Ambiance amazing.
Read moreThe dishes are perfectly arranged by way of taste, texture and presentation.
The deserts are TOO die for. Amazing COCONUT PUDDING! ( i hate coconut by the way, thats how good it is.)
Even the sparkling flavored mineral water taste like heaven.
Pros: Best Taste you will find

Excellent gourmet Vegan - Edit
We had the 7 course tasting menu for $50 pp. It was delicious. Lots of different kinds of dishes, each highlighting vegetables without trying to mimic anything else. We liked the roasted mushroom dish the best but honestly everything was delicious. I was worried I want going to be full as it truly was veggie centric, but by the end, I was contently full.

Pros: Tasting menu, Creative dishes
Cons: Expensive, Smaller portions

Exceptional Food / Superb Presentation - Edit
Gadarene Swine is one of the best restaurants you will ever eat at.
Read moreThe entrees are around 15-20 dollars alone, and you will need to order at least 2 mains and another few dishes to fill yourself up.
We ordered quinoa salad, vegetables in a box, blackened cauliflower and crispy yucca. All were equally perfect. The vegetable in a box dish was the most unique, as the vegetables are arranged in an edible crispy box. Not the easiest dish to eat, but unique and wonderful flavors. The crispy yucca dish was also a stand out, as I the "crispy" is unlike any crispy texture I have tried. The presentation of each dish are complex and artistic, and I couldn't have improved any of of the appetizers and mains in any way.
The only thing I did not care for was the pear pie dessert. I felt the "ice cream" was too hard and sweet, and the dessert I felt was rather mundane for such a wonderful restaurant.
The waiting staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, and the dishes come out of the kitchen very quickly, even though each dish is made to order.
One of the best dining experience I have ever had, but I would recommend the chef works on the pear pie.
Pros: Superb food, Outstanding presentation, Great service

Unique Cuisine - Edit
Very interesting food and unique presentation- from the wooden (log cross section) plates to all of the serving dishes. We tried the seven course option- we were surprised with dish after dish of the Chef's creations. Servers were very friendly and knowledgeable.

delicious leading edge vegan cuisine - Edit
Let's put it this way. On leaving The Gadarene Swine I learned that the chef of the Gadarene Swine had won on a show called "Chopped" (which I had to be informed about by others in the party). After dining at The Gadarene Swine it was easy for me to imagine that the chef had won on a show that rewards the creation of innovative and delicious dishes. I was there for a special occasion with a group large enough to share/sample the main dishes, some of the starters, and the desserts. Even the non-vegans in the group were delighted! The Gadarene Swine further cements Los Angeles' reputation as one of the worlds great cities for vegan restaurants (as well as vegan food available in markets, vegan-friendly restaurants, etc.)

Great Dinner - Edit
Came to celebrate a special occasion. We had lots of food and drink: Stuffed olives (yum), kale chips, Nasi Goreng (highly recommended! and special happy hour price!), tomato shooters, hand made pasta (recommended), mushrooms, tomato shooters, wine, pear pie and coffee. All was excellent, and some even more excellent. The service is attentive. Next time we plan to try the 7 or 9 courses meals, they sound appetizing. We really enjoyed the place and even found street parking 2 blocks west on Ventura Blvd.

gourmet vegan ambiance - Edit
Thank you Happy Cow for having such a comprehensive LA vegan listing database! I was fortunate to find this spot on its second day open and it's exactly what is wanted. I've been filming out of town and this set didn't cater to vegans abundantly (I did get a ripe Avo daily!) but when I got back to LA I wanted to sit down with my Lover for a long meal, enjoy some organic juice cocktails and relish plate after late of delicately I repaired organic, vegan food. This place is a museum of food art, from plating to tasting. My fav: olive stuffed olives and roasted cauliflower. Everything is a surprise after it is served!
