Loved the vegan selection! - Edit
This bakery offers a satisfying selection of vegan treats: cake slices, cheesecake, cookies, and cupcakes. I really enjoyed the bakewell, cookies and cream cake slice, and lemon meringue cupcake.

Fudgey brownie - Edit
Lovely selection of vegan and gluten free bakes. The brownie was extremely fudgey. It’s a shame it’s not all vegan

Brilliant - Edit
So much choice! Probably about half of their cakes are vegan - and everything is gluten free. We had a salted chocolate brownie and a Bakewell tart. Brownie was the best I’ve had in a very long time, and the tart was also very good (if a little on the crumbly side for my taste). No photos as we ate them too quickly!

Pros: Great choice for vegan cake, Friendly stallholders, Everything gluten free!

I’d give this place 100 stars if I could - Edit
One of my favorite desserts in this world is brownies, and as a vegan finding one that is actually good is very very hard. It’s been years since I’ve found one I loved and today was the day!! Got the sea salt and chocolate brownie and it was to die for!! So so freaking amazing! Didn’t even get a photo because I ate it so fast. Visiting from the states and will be dreaming of these brownies until I visit again one day🥰💗

Really cute spot in the market with tons of vegan options. I had a lemon cupcake. For my Italian standard was definitely too sweet but it you like sugary dessert give it a try 😊. The owner was really nice as well

5 stars: all vegan! - Edit
I can't rate this 5 stars, however this place is 100% vegan. I had the cheesecake and I loved it. It was not too sweet, it was rich and creamy. They have a big variety of all vegan items. Love it!

Nightmares - Edit
My partner once got the salted caramel and apricot cupcake and disliked it so much it is still a point of comparison 4 years later.

Hi Sky, 4 years later for a review - wow! It's still a popular cupcake tho. Over the past 4 years, we have broadened our range of vegan products extensively, with more cupcakes and a range of other bakes too. Next time you're going through Borough do give us another go! Let's put those cupcake nightmares to rest :-)

Too sweet & lack of healthier options - Edit
Market stall with some vegan items. While its free from many things, it’s certainly not free from sugar. I tried the sea salt dark chocolate brownie and it was loaded with sugar, one of the sweetest I ever tried. Didn’t enjoy it at all. To be fair, I usually don’t eat sweet things so it might be fine for you if you enjoy sugar. Maybe another option would have been better.

hello@thefreefrombake
Hi, yes, this brownie does have sugar - but it's unrefined Muscovado sugar :). We do have a range of No Cane Sugar bakes where the sweetness is derived from fruit (dried or pureed) which you may prefer, or sweetened with Xylitol, Maple Syrup, Carob, or Coconut Palm Sugar - these are Banana Choc Chip loaf to Peanut Butter Caramel cups, Aprilcot Tahini Granola bars, Banana Flapjacks and Pear & Pecan cookies plus they are all vegan and gluten free too! We hope you'll give them a try.

Ordered 3 things, the choc cake was a bit dry (and at 3,5 pounds, not too great) cause pre cut slices on a plate. They were good but I would not order any of them again...

Wonderful taste and variety - Edit
The vegan options were quite a few and clearly marked. Tried the sea salt brownie, rocky road, passion fruit cheesecake (or pie?), blueberry muffin, and the two vegan cupcakes - lemon meringue and caramel something. All equally fantastic, though the muffin serves more as a hearty snack or sweet lunch, rather than a dessert. Passion fruit cheesecake was by far the favourite in my group, and my non-vegan companions loved the place as much as I did. Atmosphere at the market is great as well, and a fun surprise, as we didn't realise it was a market with lots of cute and interesting stands before we got there. Definitely try this place♡

Limited but tasty vegan range - Edit
The Free From Bakehouse is predominantly gluten-free rather than vegan, but the vegan options are easy to find as everything is well-labelled. I had a pear and stem ginger muffin and a salted caramel apricot cupcake. The cupcake was absolutely brilliant! I chose it mostly for the caramelly-ness but it was so so nice, I'm a bit sad I only got one - though ask the servers for a napkin as it is pretty sticky. I also spotted a vegan rocky road, a brownie and a mango coconut cheesecake.

Free from most things except egg! - Edit
The Free from Bakehouse has a few vegan options: a banana and choc-chip loaf, flapjack, rock road, usually one small cupcake and a raisin and rosemary cookie. This is a lot more than they used to have admittedly, however I still find it strange that 80% of their products use eggs. They seem to be much more focused on gluten free and dairy free and I'm surprised that over the years they have only made a few additions to the vegan selection.

Pros: Vegan rocky road , Only dessert option at Borough Market
