Good burger, but get a vegan bun - Edit
Nice location, friendly staff. Asked for the black bean burger with sourdough bread per the reviews on here, and it was alright except for the bread. I don’t like toast with my burger, so they really should get a vegan bun already lol.

Cons: Need a vegan bun, Staff seemed new, Serves veal

Never Again! - Edit
My husband and I visited this place while on our honeymoon. Worked with the waitstaff to deal with our preferences and food allergies. Menu had a note that their fried foods are made with peanut oil, but no other notations. Waitress was great, very thorough. She triple checked everything before she brought us our food. I ordered a rice dish with carmelized onion. The onion was very tasty and I was hoping to make something similar at home, so I asked the waitress if she could find out what seasoning they used- I assumed it was butter (a common ingredient for carmelizing). She checked, and returned to tell me that the cooks had fried the onions with peanut oil, even after she had told them about my allergies. I spent the rest of the evening at the hospital being monitored and treated for allergic reaction... Not how I wanted to spend my honeymoon.
Read moreI really dont think it was anything the waitress did. She wrote notes on our order and checked with cooks several times. But i was still very unhappy with how this was handled. Before we left the manager came out and apologized, but she also claimed that someone on staff has a child with peanut allergies and she eats their food all the time. Talked about how peanut oil doesn't have enough of the protein to commonly cause a reaction.... I ask you: is that the point? Absolutely not! The point was that I requested every precaution be made to keep nuts out of my food. And either they dropped the ball or they ignored this little detail, thinking it would be fine. It's not their job to decide my risks! Shame!
Pros: good veggie options
Cons: not safe for food allergies, especially nut

Black Bean Burger - Edit
When I first walked into Franklin's, the host and presumably the manager was great on showing me their menu and what they could veganize. Once I was seated, I explained to the server that I wanted the black bean burger but veganized. She kind of snapped at me and said, "well, it is vegan!" I said, "no the bread needs to be changed out according to manager." Then she was like, "oh right the bread needs to be changed to sourdough." It just set a poor ambiance to my dinner. I wasn't being difficult I just wanted to make sure that my meal was vegan. Anyway, the black bean burger was "okay." I've had others that were a lot tastier.

black bean and cashew burger! - Edit
Great staff, great atmosphere. I had the black bean and cashew burger (veganized) and sweet potato with peppers. One of the best meals I've had, and reasonably priced. We'll come back when we are in the area!

great place for a meal - Edit
I had a roasted root vegetable salad which was all roasted root vegetables and was wonderful. Best root veggie dish I have ever had. Then I got a side of sweet potato which was sauteed with onion, red pepper, jalapeno and was also delicious and creative. Then the cauliflower side was roasted with garlic and red pepper flakes and was delicious as well. This chef elevates vegetables in creative ways. Very nice.

AMAZING VEGAN BURGER - Edit
The Franklin only has one vegan option, but it is well worth it! Their black bean burger is vegan if you ask for it with sourdough bread and no ketchup! They put honey in their ketchup. The staff is very accommodating to vegans and the burger was delicious!

Still hungry - Edit
The stuffed poblano was good, but it was definitely not a meal. For $18 I expected more than a little appetizer. Service was ok, but all he suggested when I said I was vegan was the pepper.

We had a nice lunch here - Edit
Our vegetarian family of 4 had a nice all-vegetarian lunch on the patio here last weekend, with a great vegan tomato soup, kale salad, stuffed poblano entree, roasted red pepper flatbread and a few good veggie side dishes. The atmosphere outside was upscale but hip and friendly at the same time. When my husband asked for no cheese on his salad, the sever quickly inquired if there were any allergies etc that we needed the kitchen staff to know about. Good attention to detail. We will definitely go again if we're in the area.
