Serves meat, vegan options available. Funky little place where artists display works and local performing art groups post notices for shows and zines. Offers soups, salads, wraps, sandwiches, quesadillas, smoothies, and organic coffee. Some items vegetarian suitable with dairy and/or egg but not vegan. Open Mon-Thu 10:30am-8:00pm, Fri-Sat 10:30am-9:00pm.

New owners - Edit
I checked this place out, going on a post from 4 years ago and unfortunately the menu has changed a lot and has paired down. New owners are happy to accommodate for vegans, though. But only two menu items are viable, and it's just taking off cheese.

More than average vegan options - Edit
Nice cafe downtown Traverse City (close to the beach). Many meals can be made vegan easily. Had choices of three vegan soups. Offers homemade hummus and guacamole.

Great Smoothies, A Few Vegan Options - Edit
Whenever I go I usually get a smoothie, they have some really delicious smoothies. Their soy latte is also good, and while they don't have many vegan choices feel free to switch out foods, the staff is very nice about that.

#1 Vegetarian Restaurant in TC - Edit
Now that sadly Serenity vegetarian restaurant in TC has closed, the Dish takes over as the #1 Veg Spot in town. It does not disappoint. As a vegetarian, you will thrive.
Read moreGrilled sandwiches, quesadillas, salads, soups, smoothies that are to-die-for, great espresso drinks. They have oatmeal in the mornings with a variety of toppings that you help yourself to. They always have six soups out, almost all are vegetarian, usually two are vegan. You help yourself to fantastic bakery bread that goes with it.
For your sweet tooth, the locally-made bakery treats at the counter are wonderful. In summer they have pints of cherries for sale in the cooler with the Jones sodas.
As a vegan, you'll do well with the oatmeal, smoothies, soups, salads and soy lattes. All but one of their salad dressings are vegan. Disappointingly, you'll have to make special requests for the sandwiches. My only criticism of this place is they don't offer even one vegan sandwich. That said, they are happy to accomodate. I've found both the owners to be vegan-friendly though regular staff can sometimes be clueless.
The place has a good progressive vibe with a bulletin board up front full of local happenings. They carry the Northern Express (complimentary) newspaper which you will love. They recycle just about everything. In summer there's usually a water bowl out front for dogs, it's that type of place.
FYI, when you walk in the protocol is to place your order at the counter then grab a table. When it's ready someone calls your name and walks it out to you. Outdoor seating in the summer.

Mediocre - Edit
Got a veggie sandwish w/o cheese and a salad w/o cheese and some replaced original dressing w vegan dressing. Edible but nothing great. Would I go back again? Probably not.
