Lovely pub with plenty of choice - Edit
Booked a table for a party of 6 on a Saturday night based on the listing on this app. Checked out their website and messaged them to ensure vegan choices. Did not disappoint! Responsive, polite and welcoming to messages. Ideal location if dining with mixed dietary requirements. Options on the night were vegan pie, vegan burger and a veg tagine and a gnocchi dish with could both be ‘veganised’ on request. I would give 5 stars but the app won’t allow me due to the pub not being completely vegan!

Excellent vegan fish and chips and Sunday roast - Edit
They have a few vegan and some more vegetarian options. I had the vegan fish and chips and I had the vegan roast on another occasion. The fish and chips is made of banana blossom and it’s super tasty - it doesn’t really taste really “fishy” but it’s really good regardless.
Read moreThe vegan roast is a huge portion of roast potatoes, vegetables and nut roast. The only thing that was missing was the vegan Yorkshire pudding.
Pros: Good vegan options , Friendly service, Nice pub atmosphere and dog friendly

Best vegan fish and chips! - Edit
The fish and chips here is amazing - made from banana blossom instead of tofu and deep fried. The Quorn burger was good but nothing special. There was also a vegan Sunday dinner which sounded good.

Brilliant - Edit
Been there on 2 separate occasions - once for vegan week and once for my fiancée's birthday.
Read moreThey have a separate veggie/vegan menu, support vegan week and veganuary, and their vegan fish & chips are the best I've ever had.
Great vegan pie too. Truly the best veggie-friendly country pub I've been to

Lovely! - Edit
My husband and I visited this place after going to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park which is less than 10 minutes away.
Read moreMy husband got very tasty onion bahji for starters (the other option was a soup). For mains we had a vegetable pie which came with thick chips, gravy and minted mushy peas (only £7! What a steal!) and a casserole which including very tasty dumplings. Other options we could have gone for include katsu curry or jackfruit burger. There was a choice of vegan brownie or sticky toffee pudding as well but we were too full by that point.
Lovely service as well - definitely planning to return!
Pros: Friendly staff, Pie/burger £7 lunch deal, Very tasty food

Excellent vegan Sunday roast - Edit
Came here with the family because of the options for all. Excellent nut roast type meal with plenty of food. Very tasty and filling. Lots of options on normal menu. Dessert menu didn’t list vegan options but ask because there were two options. Live music in the garden as well.

Good food, slow service - Edit
The atmosphere, building, surrounding gardens make for a really pleasant experience. The staff were really friendly and professional but the service was so slow! I had the Southern mockin chicken which was very tasty. There were not as many vegan options as I thought due to other reviews but still a nice selection. I’d budget again.

Disappointing - Edit
Came here attracted by the "fish" and chips. The chips were good; chunky with skins and there was a vegan coleslaw which was also tasty but the fish was a heavy, meaty mix of seitan and bean with no nori or seasoning. It was battered and had the look of a chippy fish but I had to hack through it. Traditiona tofu and nori mix in batter would have worked a lot better.
Read moreI also wasn't really feeling the vibe of the place. It was busy for a bank holiday but it felt all a bit crammed in table-wise.
I'd not count out going back as there were other options on their separate vegan and veggie menu (including a nice sounding curry) and the place is within easy reach of the free-entry Yorkshire Sculpture Park which I'd like to revisit.
Pros: Good access from Sculpture park (7 mins drive), Variety of vegan options clearly labeled, Friendly staff
Cons: pricey, Vegan fish was a bad impression

Beautiful British pub with amazing vegan options! - Edit
The Crown and Anchor have put great effort into their ever changing innovative Vegan/Vegetarian menu. They also sometimes host "Vegan Weeks" where there are even more exciting vegan options. Staff are well informed and very attentive. If you ring/email ahead with any requests or special requirements they will happily accommodate. I cannot recommend it enough!
