Great spot in Taupō - Edit
I visited the Cozy Corner after the Taupō marathon and really enjoyed it. Friendly staff, plenty of vegan cabinet and menu items and a nice selection of drinks. There are plenty of GF options if that’s your jam.

One of the best spots for vegans in Taupō - Edit
There’s really only 2 or 3 cafes in Taupō that are vegan-friendly, and this is one of them. Quite a decent vegan offering not only on the menu, but in the cabinet as well (though mostly sweets). Great cocktails, too! Last time (over a year ago) I got the vegan stack, and it seems from more recent reviews that they’ve changed that a bit and also made it smaller, which is a shame. This time I got the tofu burger, and I have to say it was AMAZING! Highly recommend with the kumara fries, yum yum.

Hi, as the owner of the c are I can definitely say that we haver NOT made the vegan stack smaller

OK Camilla, that’s great to know. Sorry if I’ve offended you, that was not my intention. Unfortunately Happy Cow does not allow 5-star review ratings for restaurants that are not fully vegan, that’s the only reason it’s 4 stars. If I could have left 5 stars, I would have.

So good! - Edit
We got the tofu burger with Kumera fries and a cheesecake. Everything was delicious and the staff were super friendly and helpful. I also had a shroom coffee which was so good I want to know the recipe! There was plenty of vegan sweet treats in the cabinet too, I found it a bit hard to choose just one!

Hi Kirsten, the shroom brew is mixed by a lady by the name of "Misty Day Plant Potions" she has just change the recipe a tiny bit (I can't tell the difference in taste) but then new mix is called "Magic Brains" we add a drop of maple syrup and milk of your choice to this.

Some good vegan options - Edit
Some good sweet vegan options in the cabinet, several smoothies, and a couple of menu items. Staff are friendly. Cafe was quite cold because the doors were wide open in May, and it was quite noisy.

Amazing option in Taupo! - Edit
While there wasn't a lot of menu choices for breakfast, we were able to expand on our choice with vegan sides.
Read moreThey have an extensive beverage menu and we enjoyed our vegan mochas.
We had the tofu scramble which was generous portion size and very tasty which came witha side of spinach and kimchi. We added a side of baked beans, a hash brown and mushrooms.
Everything was fresh, well cooked and tasty. The baked beans were very nice and made in house and the hash brown was not too oily and also seemed house made.
Overall a great feed!

Looks fancy but isn't - Edit
The menu is extensive and looks delicious, but I ordered the vegan stack and was unimpressed. No real cooking, just random items (hash browns, avocado halves, tomato and tofu slices) piled up together, and I'm pretty sure the "hollandaise" was just vegan mayo. Definitely overpriced for what it was. Dandelion latte interesting but very bitter.

Had the scrambled tofu, which was very tasty and not too spicy, even the kimchi. A good selection of vegan cakes. Free chlorophyll water. Coffee was above average for soy.

How all cafés should be - Edit
Stepping into Cozy corner you could assume it’s a regular old school cafe. But their selection is great for everyone. Loads of delicious vegan options. We enjoyed a slice of orange cake to have alongside a good soy latte. Partner had a Schroom brew. Tofu scram was delicious. 9/10

Great Labelling and made adjustments as needed - Edit
Had such clear labelling on the menu. Plenty of cabinet items. Multiple sweet options and at least two savoury options as well as the options on the menu. The hot chocolate mix isn’t dairy free- but they made one dairy free using another powder which was awesome!

Highlight on our trip - Edit
Finding nice cafes with vegan options can be quite the challenge here in NZ. But this place exceeded my expectations! At least 5 desserts to choose from and a few breakfast options. We both went for the Tofu Scramble which also comes with toast (and 1x extra slice for free if you ask) and vegan butter. It was absolutely delicious and better than I’ve had at vegan restaurants.
Read moreThe desserts were tasty and they had plenty of milk options.
Super clean and cozy, plenty of seating. We came around 9 and it was nice and empty. Got quite busy around 10 though.
Lovely staff, all had their hair tied back, and nice facilities overall. The sweet breakfast options seemed a bit expensive given what they were so we just went with tofu!
Pros: Yummy, Clean and cozy , Really nice staff
