Great vibe spot - Edit
I really love the energy in this place, but sometimes the meals are often too much in terms of ingredients and the flavor profiles suffer. However, the tacos are always excellent!

The fried guacamole was epic! Cute place and women owned :) - Edit
Loved this place, cute and quaint. The fried guacamole was one of a kind and soo delicious! Also enjoyed the vegan horchata and cauliflower tacos. Only wish the tacos had a more fresh salsa on top as the battered cauliflower was a bit heavy!
Read moreAwesome women and LGBT run and was cool to see lots of Bernie supporters in there!
Only downside was one waitress who was annoyingly bothering people to line up by the door even though we were by the door! How about adding a roped line or something? Also made a snarky remark when serving our food and rushed to grab our plates while on the last bite.
I'll be back I just hope the rude waitress was only having a bad day!
Pros: Loved the vibe, women owned, mostly vegan options, fried guacamole!!
Cons: Rude waitress (septum piercing, black hair)

Super fun and tasty! - Edit
My husband and I joined some of his coworkers and some of my Returned Peace Corps Volunteer friends here for Simpson’s trivia on the patio last night and we had a really fun time. The questions were difficult (I was no help at all) and the concept was super fun. Two of us brought our furry friends and it was a really fun time. My husband had the chickpea burger and I had the tacos. We loved that they source local beers and wines and that they have vegan and gluten free bakery treats as well. This area is pretty vegan friendly in general, but we love supporting the fully veg*n restaurants. This is no exception. The place is a bit tight, but it was a really great experience. The staff are super friendly and helpful and everyone had a great time. The only complaint is the long wait time to order when it’s busy and the lack of space to line up. However, being such a specifically themed restaurant, I understand why they set it up this way and not with servers as during the lulls, they might not make enough to sustain those positions. It might be helpful to have one designated person for busy nights to serve the patio, as they also made multiple people come in to be ID’d for alcohol, both interrupting trivia, and making the already long line impatient (nearly everyone in our party is over 30, but I understand the need to check.) The food was on point, and I’ll be dropping by again soon!

Brunch ☕️ - Edit
The Coronado has great coffee and lattes. They also have unique pastry options. I’ve tried their Mexican hot chocolate cookie that was sweet with a kick of cayenne and their fig pie scone, both amazing! Their space is really cozy and the staff moves fast.

We were in town for a long weekend and had brunch here - twice. It is that good. Can’t wait to return. Delicious breakfast burrito, veggie and tofu scramble, best scones we have ever had. Quirky spot with friendly service.

Delicious - Edit
Quaint little place with outstanding, delicious starters, salad and dinner plates. We had the cauliflower tacos, a must try. We had the citrus fennel salad, which was perfect. It was light and refreshing. We had the fried guacamole which was also a great plate to share as a starter. We sat outside with our dog while visiting from KY. Will be back.

nice - Edit
A bit pricey, but I think it was worth it. Everything vegetarian can be made vegan - our hostess double checked if we wanted dairy items or not. There weren't too many GF options, but I still had choices and what I chose was delicious. Their coffee was great, too!

Good but not great - Edit
The food was good, but overall the flavor wasn’t anything stellar. The selection is varied, even though nothing is explicitly marked vegan, some items are and almost everything else can be made vegan. I liked the different ingredients that the were used in the traditional dishes - made it very interesting to try, however they all were on the greasy side of things.

Favorite spot - Edit
Any time I’m in Phoenix, this is where I go. Even if it’s just for a night, I’m sure to roll through. Try anything. You can’t go wrong. The biscuits and gravy, cauliflower tacos (unreal), chorizo tacos, fried guacamole, the red bean quesadilla, the chimichanga, the list goes on. I’ve tried so much here, and nothing has disappointed me. Another thing worth mentioning. A lot of times when I eat at vegan places, the food is heavy. Bogged down with salt or oils. The Coronado doesn’t rely on those vegan tricks, but rather on wholesome, truly plant based dishes, that leave you feeling like you didn’t just make a good choice for the well being of animals and the planet, but for your body as well.

Great Mex fusion place - Edit
I went with my family, mostly omnivores, and everyone liked it. They have a great menu, all vegetarian, with many vegan items. It is casual; you order at the counter. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We had the breakfast burrito, cauliflower tacos, chimichanga, and guacamole/chili fries. All tasty! It is also a cute little place. Highly recommend.

Good, not great - Edit
I’ve tried the red bean quesadilla, the biscuits and gravy, the farmhouse tofu scramble, and the cobb salad here.
Read moreFirst, the red bean quesadilla is savory, a little spicy, slightly greasy, and the avocado dressing kinda saves the whole thing because after a while it tastes very same-y and you lose the complexity of flavor without some creaminess to help balance out the beans, peppers, and onions. I’d ask for extra avocado dressing on the side to give a little more variety to the dish.
The biscuits and gravy are good, but not great. The gravy is very very very heavy on the mushroom flavor. Don’t get it if you don’t love mushrooms. The biscuit itself was pretty good, but again not great. It was dense, and had some sweetness, light but not flaky, and even slightly dry. But again, not much complexity here, it’s a plain white biscuit and mushroom gravy and not worth ordering again.
The tofu farmhouse scramble was my least favorite. I could taste the oil, and it’s that slightly rancid taste where you know the oil has gone bad or something was just very off. I had one bite and didn’t want another.
The Cobb was probably the best of the dishes I’ve tried. It’s a salad but at least it has different textures, flavors, sweet/spicy, and the dressing is pretty good. I actually preferred it with a balsamic vinegar I had at home which I found brought a much needed sweet acidity to this salad and brought out a bbq flavor in the chickpeas. The avo, corn, and sweet potatoes are nicely complimented with the bitterness and chewiness of the kale too.
Over all, I’m hesitant to give this place another go, even though the pastries are all vegan and the burgers look tempting. I’ve been reading mixed reviews on the burgers which leaves me skeptical. Perhaps the cauliflower tacos are the only real draw at this place.
Pros: Vegan options, vegan pastries, Decent food
Cons: Very expensive, Not great food

Amazing vegan options - Edit
I recently joined a Phoenix vegan group because I'm here so often but live in San Diego. I tried the Coronado off of a recommendation from that group. Loved it! I got the potato tacos (veganized- no cheese) to go. I had to try it hot so I ate one in the parking lot. OMG, reminiscent of Baja style fish tacos that used to be a pre-vegan fav of mine, that I ate them all while driving to the hotel.

Had the vegan chorizo tacos and the chill fries, yes two meals, I was hungry! Don't judge. Absolutely awesome tasty food! Very filling and the guac was extra special. Only came to around $22, so good price for America.

Great Coffee and Vegan Sweets - Edit
The Coronado has a bohemian atmosphere and serves excellent organic coffee and delicious vegan sweets. They also have a modest menu of vegetarian and vegan options and a full bar. I enjoy their food—particularly the cauliflower tacos—but it doesn’t feel “clean” to me. I don’t eat a lot of processed food and sometimes when I eat at Coronado I feel nauseous afterward. I think they have about the best coffee in Phoenix and I love their sweets—particularly the rosemary chocolate chip cookie!

Absolutely amazing! - Edit
My boyfriend and I had lunch here today, and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. We ordered three things- the cauliflower tacos, the breakfast burrito, and the beet burger- thinking we’d try each of them and take some home. We ended up eating every single bite, and it wasn’t because the portions were small (the portions were perfect!), it was just that good. There were so many things we wanted to try! We’ll be going back for sure.

I ate here almost every morning while vacationing in Phoenix. The biscuits and gravy we're my favorite, I think. I also had an excellent Cesar Brussels Sprouts salad and the tofu scramble. Great coffee too. It's set up so cute, like a house, I could have hung out there all day.

Amazing tacos - Edit
I came here while I was on vacation with my non-vegan family (I'm the only vegan, they're all carnivores.) We ate here three times during our week-long vacation, so clearly we liked it. We actually went over a year ago, but I totally forgot to leave a review, so hopefully I can remember everything and not too much has changed!
Read moreI know we definitely ordered each of the tacos: the cauliflower tacos, the potato tacos, and the chorizo tacos w/tofu. The tacos were amazing. My family ate the cauliflower and potato tacos and loved them; they said they were just as good as the meat filled tacos they're used to eating. I ate the chorizo tacos and fell in love. I will warn you that these were very spicy, but I love spicy, so I loved these.
My parents also ordered a sandwich that I'm not seeing on the menu, so I'm not sure if maybe it was some sort of special or maybe they just took if off the menu. But it was some sort of avocado sandwich that my parents raved about for days.
So all in all, The Coronado was a great success. They definitely have more vegetarian options than vegan, but they could only serve chorizo tacos and I would be content so it wasn't a problem for me!
Pros: Amazing tacos, Good value
Cons: Not as many vegan options

cauliflower tacos oh my! - Edit
We are a vegetarian family with one vegan. This restaurant has a great mix of both! We were pleased with the variety on the menu and most sauces are vegan! The cauliflower tacos were amazing! The cauliflower has a crunchy coating and goes well with the sauce and corn tortilla. I wish we had this restaurant near us in VA. Who knew Phoenix had so many great vegan restaurants? Thanks again Happy Cow for directing us to The Coronado!

This restaurant was kind of small but has some charm. I was a little scpetical driving up and walking in but I was pleasantly suprised with the food and atmosphere. I order there breakfast tofu burrito and to was very yummy. I would have liked to seem a larger selection, however did have a nice variety to choose from. Over all I had a nice experience.
