Great quirky café - Edit
Offer a good range of vegan options with loads of vegan cakes. Vegan nachos were tasty, with large portions. Also had the pumpkin spice cake (as it was Halloween) to takeaway.

Delicious vegan options in cute cafe - Edit
I ordered the vegan smashed burger sandwich from the specials board and my husband had the vegan curry from the specials board. We also had a slice of cake The food was delicious and staff were very friendly. The cafe is dog friendly and has plenty of space for a pram. I would definitely return.

Good selection of vegan options, including cakes. Friendly service and nice food. So glad to have such an option in Berwick-upon-Tweed town centre.

Unimaginative basic fare - Edit
We thought we'd seek out local information and asked at the lovely, quirky, The Green Shop for vegan eatery recommendations and they reluctantly suggested - in the absence of anything else coming to mind - the Cornerhouse cafe.
Read moreWe found the Cornerhouse to be a pleasant space, trying rather too hard to be shabby-chic and plastic-quirky. The glow of the open fire near the counter was a warm and welcoming sight. The regular clientelle we observed to be treated somewhat preferentially and who sounded quite snooty and gossipy.
The plant-based offerings were limited and unimaginative. The two soups we tried were unremarkable other than for being (to our taste) over seasoned with salt. The 'special' of the day was coronation chickpea. We imagined a flavour packed smashed chickpea combo, but received a sandwich comprising whole chickpeas between two slices of bread.
The latte coffee had a strange foamy appearance and - if you like that kind of thing - a very bitter taste.
The Cornerhouse cafe clearly has potential and could easily make more of itself. It could, with a little creative effort and imagination, become a magnet for vegans visiting Berwick.
Would we go again? No.

Lots of vegan options, tasty homemade food - Edit
This cafe offered a wide range of vegan options and plant milks, with nice coffee and good food! I had the vegan soup of the day (butternut squash and spinach), lovely flavours but only downside was that it was very salty. There were two vegan daily specials and it felt like they put a lot of effort into their vegan options, which was much appreciated!

Good vegan options, log fire & books. - Edit
The Cornerhouse in Berwick has consistently offered good vegan options since they first opened. There are even more sfv options on the menu these days.
Read moreUsually at least 3 vegan cakes, sometimes more - always tasty & filling.
Consistently good coffee with plantmylks available.
Several savoury options, generally good homemade soup. Tofu salad an option, plus vegan cheese ciabatta. Requested to combine the two, especially good with some of the hummous added.
The falafel ciabatta with chilli jam has also always been a great option.
Even more hearty veg stews - eg butterbean with med herbs - would be very welcome. Always here for variety!
Helpful staff & a cosy log fire plus affordable 2nd hand books to browse & buy.
Pros: Always several vegan options., Fair prices & cosy log fire., Helpful staff.

Cosy Corner Cafe - Edit
Very welcoming cafe with a few decent vegan options. We just stopped for some refreshments and a much needed break after a walk around the town. The Americano was superb and our young son was very satisfied with his apple juice. Nice cosy interior inside also. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Visited here for first time today and can’t wait to visit again! I had the vegan nachos, they were amazing and also a slice of the Victoria sponge cake which was lovely. Most of the cakes were vegan so lots of choice.

Really cute wee cafe. Very homely, super nice staff and it’s of vegan options - and they’re happy to make you stuff not in the menu. Had the panini, great and the vegan nachos - amazing! Coffee tastes great and they had three types of vegan cake! So good!

Best Vegan food in Northumberland! - Edit
Fab, super-cute little cafe, flowery-academia vibes, would recommend the falafel ciabatta, and vegan nachos. Also there were tons of very tasty vegan cake options, and plant milks available for tea. The staff were very accomodating, and super friendly ... loved the flower crowns!

Lovely quirky cafe, with friendly staff. I had a vegan Nachos dish, it was delicious and huge. Spoilt for choice of cakes, opted for raspberry mojito cake - amazing!! All washed down with a large mug full of very nice coffee. I will be back.

Lovely chilled vibes, always a vegan option. - Edit
Visited this cafe a few times when visiting Berwick - the staff are lovely, the cafe is chilled and cosy and there's always a savoury vegan option and almost always a vegan cake! I haven't sampled the savoury stuff but I've had many lovely cups of tea with soya milk and a couple of the lovely vegan cakes. Really recommend for a nice chilled cafe time. (Also, it's dog friendly! Which is a lovely bonus)

Meets the Criteria - Edit
Well, it's certainly on a corner and part of a house, so yes it meets these criteria. It also meets the criteria of an inquisitive vegetarian or vegan traveller - to a very reasonable extent. Whilst the food menu is generally limited to soup, toasties, sandwiches and salads all with vegan choice it's worth checking out the specials board. That's exactly what I did and ended up with a tasty and very hearty chick pea and vegetable curry for £4.50. The vegan cakes are pretty special here. In fact, the peanut butter and chocolate one I tried was simply breathtaking. I love chocolate. I also love peanuts. So this was an instant sensation. Maybe even a 'New Sensation' as Lou Reed once sang. They also do vegan brownies and lemon cake. I suppose it changes on a regular basis. You feel very much at home here with super comfy chairs and lots of books of all categories to keep you interested. Unless, like me you have a tablet and read books electronically. The free wifi here in that case is quite essential. What's also good about this place is the coffee. It's made with pride and served in the same manner. This is without doubt the best place to go in Berwick for a coffee and vegan cake. In fact, it's probably the only place to go and indulge in this delightful activity. Pull up a seat at the window and find out for yourself.
