Very average roast - Edit
Came here for a roast around Xmas time and was left very underwhelmed. Nut roast was served squished in a pan, sad vegetables and overall meh

Fantastic pub, with veg & vegan options - Edit
Fantastic all-round experience.
Read moreReally easy to book and reserve online, even just a day or so in advance. Atmosphere lovely & staff friendly and helpful. Table ready for us, and happy for us to swap if we wanted to. Repoured a drink when weren't happy with flavour (diet coke from tap).
Lovely food - had Sunday roast. 2 of group had meat, 1 veggie wellington, 1 vegan nut roast. Shared cauli cheese. Great range for all. All super yum. Puddings looked great too just couldn't fit it in haha! Definitely recommend and return in the future
Pros: Vegetarian option for Sunday roast, Vegan op Sun roast (great lentil nut roast!), Friendly staff & vibe

Awful Vegan Roast Dinner! - Edit
My Dad and I were so excited to try the roast dinners at The Christmas Steps as they offer vegan and non vegan options and the location seemed really cool. The restaurant itself is in a really nice location and has a great atmosphere for a Sunday Lunch. However, the food was so bad we definitely wouldn’t return. The roast dinners were £15 each which is so expensive! The worst part was the portions though! My vegan roast came with 3 tiny roast potatoes that seemed like they were from a packet, one thin slice of carrot and some cabbage and a large nut roast which was so burnt and overcooked that I didn’t eat half of it because it was so dry! Even if it wasn’t over cooked it still tasted horrible as it had no flavour and was just bland. My dads meat roast was the same; tiny potatoes and a small amount of vegetables with a decent portion of meat. For £15 I would expect a much higher quality roast with bigger options. They also didn’t have a vegan dessert on the menu like they did online which left me very disappointed. The staff were friendly but very laid back and the service was very slow. Overall, we would not go back because of how bad the food was, which is a shame because the venue itself is nice.

Happy vegan eating with an omnivore! - Edit
Ate at the end of afternoon service so we were too late for dessert. I had the vegan Buddha bowl - delicious and no vampire will be coming after me for a while! I do love garlic! My other half enjoyed his (sadly) non vegan meal too. Great vibe, friendly staff and I really enjoyed my meal. What’s not to like!
