WOW is all I can say. BEST tempeh me and my wife have ever had. We got the tempeh sandwhich with the cardinal sauce. It’s like a sweet and spicy Dr Pepper sauce. I am a Dr Pepper girl through and through so this was such a delightful surprise. The fries are also incredible I’m not sure how they made such a simple thing so good?? Anyways this is a must visit if you are vegan and in the area !!

Great vegan options - Edit
While not 100% vegan, I was excited at the options of things that could be made vegan in this small town. The wait staff was knowledgeable of all ingredients and were able to answer any questions.

The tempeh tenders are the best thing there! I also got the beet burger original style and it was okay. Not a fan of the beet patty which is why I’m giving it four start. However, next time definitely getting the tempeh tender sandwich! The fries are also good, just basic!

My partner and I were excited to see three vegan options on the menu! I got the Buffalo tempeh and he got the beet burger. Both were yummy. The tempeh is breaded & personally I would have wanted more Buffalo flavor/ a spicer burger but it was all in all filling. The beet burger had a soft texture and we had it with slaw and really enjoyed it! The potato chips were great and the fries were basic but yummy.

I got the cardinal style tempeh sandwich and it was very good (slightly spicy Cheerwine sauce). It has a nice upbeat dive bar type atmosphere and friendly staff.

VEGAN CORN DOG! AND it was awesome. the tempeh tenders were ok - they mentioned they should be breaded but weren't. i kinda wish they hadn't served us them because they were not v good but we felt bad sending them back since they made an exception serving them... meh. beet burger was to die for. the server sent us over to their sister restaurant, Lily's and THAT WAS GREAT TOO!

One of my fave restaurants in Boone! Their tempeh/beet burger is to die for. *they offer a vegan style for both of these sandwiches with vegan Mayo, lettuce, Tomato, etc** The Carolina spread plate is also a great option for vegetarians! Great atmosphere and amazing cocktails

Very tasty food. I got a buffalo tempeh sandwich and the cardinal tempeh tenders. The cardinal sauce is sweet (kind of like a mix between BBQ and teriyaki). I wasn't sure I would like it but it was quite delicious.

waitress was vegetarian, so she was very knowledgeable as Vegan options and how to veganize other selections. I had the Tempeh Tender Sandwich while dining in. It was excellent. Also, I ordered a Beet Burger to go, and I was very pleased with this one. A very hearty meal. UPDATE : I just tried the Veggie Dog (vegan) with Avacodo Spread & Onions ... yum.
