Strong brunch vibes - Edit
Their brunch game is pretty good. The country platter breakfast felt well rounded, the coffee is good, and their juice selection is admirable. Plenty of outdoor shaded seating is available.

Perfect for Us! - Edit
So thrilled we found this restaurant. We are a vegan family of 5 and were meeting relatives and friends for dinner who are not vegan. But with only a one night visit in LA we really wanted to try out at least a vegetarian restaurant and our guests were game. I submitted a reservation through their website which only allows for a party of 7 but instructs you to email. I figured that would go nowhere, as emails to "info@" emails often do. But positively surprising I not only received a response I was offered the use of their private patio for our party. It was PERFECT!!! So beautiful. My 92 year old uncle is very hard of hearing so this space allowed him to be more fully engaged in the conversation as opposed to being in the bustling restaurant. The staff was professional, the service attentive and the food was delicious. Highly recommend this spot

A very special way to start my birthday - Edit
My boyfriend and I went here on my 26th birthday and it was not disappointing at the slightest! The staff was so lovely, the food was absolutely delicious and the cafe simply gorgeous!
Read moreWe chose to come here because of all the great reviews and because they served french toast with almond milk! Unfortunately, we arrived later than planned and they were no longer serving breakfast. My boyfriend explained that them that we were leaving NYC in just a couple of days and that we went specifically there on my birthday because of their (so well-rated) "triple berry french toast". The staff kindly said that the cook was out of some of the ingredients for it but that he was going to check what they could do... 10 minutes later and he came back with the most festive french toast! This made my birthday!.
My boyfriend also ordered a vegan BLT sandwich and he said that it was the best he has ever eaten!
We will make sure to come here the next time we visit NYC! :)
Pros: Lovely staff, Great food, Gorgeous space
Cons: Limited seating, Can be crowded

Don’t bother - Edit
Me and my gf got the vegan pizza when we were here I believe. We tried some of our friends dishes as well and nothing blew us away. This was last year but the food was very unmemorable and rather pricey. Interior was cramped but not terrible.
Read moreThey served my friends expensive wine in water glasses. Maybe if you’re not a snob like me, this won’t bother you. But I don’t get how you can charge a good price for a glass of wine and do not have proper glassware and information about the grapes. But maybe that is my past experience working in restaurants speaking.

I was happy with my choice of the zoodles with ricotta but it wasn’t filling enough for a full dinner. Coffee was great, we sat at the bar and felt really taken care of.

Delicious food, great vibe - Edit
Totally cool little place. Seating at counter looking out at the street scene is the BEST! There was no wait when I went at 10:30am on Sat but when I left there was a line out the door. If there’s a line, try Charley St just a block or two away. Their avo toast looks better and $10 vs $16. Not as great an ambiance though.

LOVE the name of this place! Walked by before and never realized it was a vegetarian restaurant-haha.
BTW, update from previous complaining posts: THEY OFFER TEMPEH NOW! Got that on top of my avo toast. So happy.
Pros: Cool hip vibe, Oh Kale Yeah! Tee shirts worn by servers, Good for vegans and non.

Awesome Quesadillas - Edit
I've only had the Quesadillas there , but they are incredible for such a simple dish. I think its the type of cheese they use. I asked for and assume its vegan but seeing the other reviews I have to be more vigilant because the staff is not knowledgeable on what is considered vegetarian and what is vegan. I like the food but it is kind of pricey, and I wish it would be all vegan instead.

Not sure what the fuss is about - Edit
Lots of egg on the menu, nothing was exceptional. The space was tight, prices were high, food was mediocre, service was slow. The ice cream sandwich for dessert was literally was $11 and since they ran out, they went across the street to buy vegan ice cream to thrown it in some very hard cookies and serve it with some fruit jam.

Tricky for vegans - Edit
I went here for lunch, having enjoyed meals at one of the LA branches. We ordered the Chicken Milanese sandwich, which is marked as vegan on the menu. For some reason I decided to just double check that it was indeed vegan, and the waiter seemed confused about what that meant, and then after checking with another member of staff, said that the chicken was made with eggs. We also asked about getting one of the smoothies without honey in it but were told they are pre-made so they can't adjust the ingredients. Unfortunately at that point we decided just to leave as the curt attitude of the staff and mislabeled menu had put us off. It really concerned me that other vegans would unknowingly order items that aren't actually vegan, so wanted to just mention our experience here.

I was suprised how much stuff on the menu had egg and dairy in it. The vegan options still looked good though, they were out of the desserts I wanted to try but what we had was good.

Cute place, but sadly lacking in vegan breakfast options - Edit
We were initially excited that this place was one of very few in the area that was open early, and planned to have breakfast here since no breakfast was offered in our nearby hotel.
Read moreThe decor is really cute – bright and clean.
Although much is made on their website about being a "plant-based" restaurant, we found it hard to find satisfying vegan breakfast options.
The waiter was very helpful, pointing out which items were actually vegan, but we weren't left with much.
The breakfast menu looked enticing, but is quite heavy on eggs with no vegan substitutes offered. This is confusing, because it should be simple to swap out eggs for tofu, tempeh, or any number of animal-free substitutes.
We ended up paying close to $40 for a skimpy avocado toast, and a bowl of oatmeal, both with no protein – and coffee and tea. I'd like to make a plea to the owners to please, please, consider offering more vegan breakfast choices, your neighborhood really needs your care and concern for plant based options to be fulfilled! I love this area, and would like to stay overnight again, but short of throwing our own stash of nuts into your porridge or avocado toast (and factoring the cost into the $40 bill!), we need a more balanced start to the day before we can consider returning. On the plus side – the porridge was absolutely beautiful – that went on Instagram immediately, and the Bellocq Earl Grey was one of the best I've ever had. (That's saying a lot, because I really care about quality teas!) I stopped in the Butcher's Daughter takeout shop, hoping to buy some tea to take home, but only to go cups were offered. Since Bellocq tea Atelier is in Brooklyn, why not consider selling some in your shop...?
Will keep an eye on developments here, hoping not to cross it off the list...
Pros: cute decor, fantastic Bellocq teas!
Cons: lacking vegan breakfast options, over priced , seating by the window is uncomfortable

The Butcher's Daughter was VEGAN - Edit
A plant-based restaurant that treats its vegetables and fruits like a butch would it's meat! A careful, thought-out menu with a mixture of sweet and savory choices!
Read moreFood *****
We ordered the quesadilla and the nachos libre. The quesadilla was one of the finer vegan quesadillas we've tried. Decorated with an assortment of vegetables and comes with a very unique dipping sauce, making this a delicious choice! The nachos were fantastic! You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between these and meat nachos. Yum!!
Atmosphere *****
Outside seating in a nice, quiet area with plenty of table space (granted you don't have to sit with anyone if it gets too crowded). Overall a very nice environment and they are also cognizant and caring towards the environment. You'll see what I mean when you visit!
Service ****
Quick, pleasant and no hiccups! The waiter could have been a bit more lively and friendly but no complaints!
Price $$
Surprisingly very cheap consider all that you get! All entrees under $20!
Pros: All Vegan, Outside seating
