Nice to see a fully vegan restaurant

We had dinner at The Botonist and overall enjoyed the food. For starters we shared the Blu Footed Booby salad which was really good. Slightly smoky with a tasty creamy dressing. The fried meat indicated on the menu turned out to be more like pieces of vegan chik’n fingers, but tasty still. For mains we had the OLM faux fish and the Common Cockchafer pasta with goulash. The OLM looked super impressive with pieces of faux fish on a bed of Swiss chard and creamy cauliflower mash. The cockchafer was large pieces of faux meat over pasta with a plum gravy. Because of the plums, the goulash was sweet and a bit of a surprise since plums weren’t included in the description on the menu. The faux meat was on the chewy side. For dessert we had a coconut cake which was good if a bit dry. Others in our party had the flatbread and cynical Quaker pasta which they said were both really good, and the Aha ha green burger which had a strong flavour of cumin. There were definitely enough good dishes on the menu that it make this restaurant worth visiting.

Best Vegan Food Ever!

What a wonderful experience - went on a date night during a holiday in Zadar. The food was incredible, I tried the "dik dik" - a vegan filet mignon style dish. The food, wine and dessert were all amazing, as well as the service from our server Miloŝ. If you're in Zadar, do not miss out on this place!

Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere

Great food and beautiful service

Super excited to tell that it is one of the best places I have ever been. Food presentation was the best, we had 4 dishes from the main dish menu. All of them were savory and full of delicious flavors. Presentation of the food way you never forget. The restaurant concept is unique and special. Beautiful atmosphere and fabulous view, you can see the sunset. I would leave pics of the food. It is pricey but it is worth it. Desserts are out of the world

Amazing experience

Truly the best restaurant experience I've had. Amazing menu, not too much items, yet still plenty of choices. The taste definitely exceeded any expectations I've had. The staff was super careful, helpful and polite. Can't recommend it enough. Easily said it's the best restaurant in Zadar.

Pros: The menu is perfectly balanced , The staff is incredibly helpful and polite , Great sitting area, with a beautiful sea view

Just amazing

I had the pasta (lemon and almonds) which although a small portion was very tasty. My son had the Aye-Aye meat burger which he loved. I had the cake of the day which was a bounty style cashew cream dessert. Delicious. The waitress was super friendly and kind. I failed to get decent pics but I think we'll return tomorrow because it was that good!

We ate here every day! 😋

Amazing food, great service and people and a lovely atmosphere! I’ve been vegan for 10 years but this is honestly one of the best places i’ve ever eaten; and trust me, I travel to eat!
The food is just incredible, plated so nicely, well presented and explained.
The outside seating area is super cozy with a view on the sea and sunset.
Definitely huge recommendation for everyone and thanks for all the staff at The Botanist to make our holiday experience so great! 🙏🏼

Absolutely fabulous

The food here is nothing short of culinary artistry. I travel and eat a lot, and it’s been a while since I’ve had a meal this well thought out and full of flavor. Perfection. Plus, the server was able to tell me where a lot of the ingredients came from (many local to the Balkans). It’s on the expensive side, but I’ve rarely had a meal that I paid so much for that I wasn’t even a little disappointed in. Worth every euro.

Pros: Stunning flavor, Many options, Good dessert

Cons: Expensive

Lovely atmosphere

We ate here twice during our week stay in Zadar. Staff were super friendly and helpful, explaining the menu to us... "Fish" and "meat" dishes are designed to look or taste similar but are 100% vegan. Food is really tasty and not just your average vegan options of falafel or bean burgers.

We went with our 7month old (who, at times can be pretty vocal) the staff were very welcoming and attentive, interacting with him and offering us a highchair- only downside re. going with a baby, no current changing facilities.

Pros: Creative and innovative , Delicious food, Friendly staff

I recommend this place

The meal was very good, especially the eggplant. The waiter was nice and helpful. Pasta dishes cost around 11-13€, so it's affordable. It's really nice to see a vegan restaurant in Zadar.

Great!

What a nice place. Close to the water, waiter was super friendly and funny. We had such a great meal that I forgot to take any pictures.😉would recommend the fried aubergine and the cheesecake for desert. Talked with the staff about vegan cevapi, they said it was a great idea, so who knows....!

Pros: All vegan., Great service., Delicious food.

Great location for a dating night

Cute restaurant close to the sea. We reserved a table, which wouldn't have been necessary. The waiter was friendly and explained each of the ingredients to us. Terms like "meat" and "fish" on the menu might be slightly confusing but this is a 100% plant based restaurant. We didn't just have a main course but also shared an appetizer and a dessert. Totally worth it! When in Zadar I recommend spending an evening there!

Pros: 100% plant based

Cons: Pricy

100% vegan but a confusing menu

Oh wow. Just so many dishes on offer. Tasty, beautiful vegan dishes. The staff were helpful and friendly. The only confusing part is the menu says fish and filet. it’s actually plant based but because of the misunderstanding of the meaning of Vegan from other restaurants on Zadar, you have to ask.

Pros: Vegan options everywhere , This is vegan fine dining

Cons: I would love to see a to go type menu also.

We were hopeing more..

Sadly, this experince was a disapointment for us.. The food was, well, okey, but the service.. First I got a wrong order. Well that's ok, sometimes that happens. But then the english speking waiter propably ended her shift, and we didn't get any service after that. We would have wanted to order a dessert, but after 40min of waiting, I vaiwed to the non-english-speaking waiter, that we would like to get the check. And then, the food was really expensive, and when we checked other photos of the food, some components were missing from our main course.. Sadly, we didn't leave any tips, and won't eat there again. We were hopeing more..

Pros: All vegan

Cons: Expensive, Lack of components

Delicious

I went there twice and everything I ordered was really delicious. I had the fillet mignon whose the ressemblance with meat is something I had never seen before. The polenta is also really tasty. I had the coco-choco cake for dessert and it's really worth a try😄The price is a bit high, but from my point of view it's worth it and probably represent a lot of hours of work and research.

It was nice, i dont think I'll come again..

It was nice. I came here because its available food that has also gluten free options. I take the mushrooms with the polenta and the a start dish number 5 (gf with chickpea flour bread I think). The main dish was not tasty to me , the seeds of the figs was not combined with the dish. But the start dish was great! I recommend.
You should know that the restaurant style is high class so the price in not cheap.

Pros: It was a beautiful view , They had GF options

Cons: Expensive, The main dish wasnt small but was not big either.

Amazing food

I had the bruschetta (warm!) and dik dik - probably the most amazing dish I've had as a vegan, and it's been quite a few years.
The service is just ok and it's quite expensive here.

Interesting creations but two pricy for the quality

We went there after reading the reviews and were quite disappointed.
I had a "Dalmatien traditional pašticada of vegetables..." (Common Cockchafer) but missed to see or taste any vegetables at all. The "meat" really tasted like meat although I hadn't expected to have such an experience since I didn't really know what the traditional version is. The gnocchi had no taste at all, certainly it didn't taste like sweet and red potato. My boyfriend had a burger and said it was quite tasteless as well without any herbs or spices and a very thin burger roll with more air than bread in it.
The waitress was not overwhelmingly kind and in the end it took very long to get the bill.

Pros: Fake meat tastes like real meat , location is quite nice

Cons: Very expensive, Partialy tasteless, not very friendly waitress, took too long

Really enjoyed! Very nice place!

All the menu is totally vegan, so don't worry when words like "fish" and "meat" are out there.
The "fillet mignon" is absolutely amazing! Also the tomato soup was very delicious. I think that the polenta wasn't so tasty, and also the flat bread was a bit weird.

Pros: All the menu is vegan!, The "filet mignon" is the best

Cons: Not all the dishes are so tasty
