That’s a shame. It’s a hard gig are moment for anyone trying to get good staff. Fingers crossed for them.

That’s very unreasonable to give 2 stars, due to staff shortages! We were given short notice of sickness and updated socials as soon as possible. It’s because we are new and finding our feet, that these things happen and some understanding would be appreciated.

I’ll change the review when I make it back. Like I said, I made the trip from Keswick especially, an hour and a half round trip so I was pissed off. I think it’s fine for my review to get people’s attention and for visitors to double check if you are indeed open.

i live in Keswick, it's not an hour 1/2 away!! Socials were updated, I've turned up at Chesters before, and it was closed (they didn't even update their socials), I certainly didn't give them a bad review. Reviews should be based on your experience of eating at a cafe, not based on if it's open or closed! I think you should remove it, it's completely unjust.

We advertised on all our social media we were unable to open, due to the chef/owner taking ill, which also meant she was unable to drive in to Bowness to collect the signs!!! To give a 2 star review without even experiencing the cafe, is very unfair.
