Mama, Life Had Just Begun - Edit
Pink Lane in Newcastle is a fascinating little back street. It's got some very decent bars, a Thai massage parlour and since September 2015, a fabulous vegetarian (mainly vegan) restaurant. On our first visit as soon as we walked into Bohemian we knew we were in a good place. Legendary album covers adorn the walls. The Smiths, Joy Division and Kraftwerk to name some of my favourites. We ordered the raw spaghetti bolognese and a chilli hot dog which was served with a vegan coleslaw, skinny fries and onion rings. The atmosphere here is naturally, bohemian! For me this is mixture of Montmartre in Paris, Kazimierz in Krakow and the old absinthe bars of Prague. The lighting is perfect, you don't get pestered or rushed and you are made to feel relaxed with a lingering need to return. Since that first visit in September 2015 we have returned numerous times and seen the place evolve and improve. This is why I'm updating my review from 4 to 5 Happy Cows today. Tuesday nights are very special indeed. 3 tapas for £10 and buy one get one free on the cocktails. Need to find out if they still do that as since opening on Sundays and from midday every day they have introduced some great new offers. Now listen very carefully. I shall say this only once. They have a full 100% vegan pizza menu which can even be home delivered. The pizzas are pretty exceptional, I've tried quite a few and can highly recommend the chilli dog calzone. It oozes vegan perfection in a fast food, calorifically explosive, tasty and junky sort of way. The staff are always friendly and are justifiably proud of their ever expanding range of novel culinary creations.

I sat in this beautiful fairy and candle lit place for HOURS! The menu is enormous, so many options. I was VERY happy! It even had sticky toffee pudding!! The staff are wonderful, warm and friendly. Bought a couple of records, highly recommend this place. On a quiet street, a little piece of heaven.

Overpriced and bought in - Edit
Back when Bohemian first opening the chilli dog was really good and a great value. The tapas were not though as many of the items were bought in (garlic mushrooms etc) so these were not worth the money. Overall we liked to come here when it first opened for the burgers and hot dog. But as time went on the vibe got weird in this place and the food quality got poorer. The pizza is overpriced and barely contains any toppings. Bookings of larger parties require set menus and the food in the set menu is lacking and we found the experience to be unpleasant from initial booking on. This could have been a great place but it took a turn somewhere along the way. I’m not sure why people rave about it.

Everything about this place is great! - Edit
We’re frequent visitors to Bohemian and travel over 30 miles to eat here. We love everything about this place - the atmosphere, food, service, music and cocktail selection. Recently sampled their afternoon tea which was out of this world and very reasonably priced at £17.95 per person! Thoroughly recommend this place.

Brilliant range of food - Edit
I really recommend the 'duck' wraps. The menu is extensive and there is loads of variability in the options, I really recommend trying this place. The staff are really friendly as well and the food arrives promptly. Tucked away on a little lane away from the hubbub of the city with a nice atmosphere within. Food made to an amazing standard.

Dined there twice 💖 - Edit
Have tried the pizza, the jackfruit Hoisin wrap and one of the burgers. As far as vegan imaginative cuisine goes, I’d give it top points. The Uber cool 80’s and 90’s decor with vinyls all over the place was excellent. The staff were really clued up on everything and were able to explain the intricacies of the dishes.

Amazing food, beautifully presented! - Edit
I found this restaurant on Happy Cow and decided to go when meeting my good friend. It's such a joy to find a fully vegan restaurant, and one so handy for town and the railway station!
Read moreThe menu was varied and extensive - I wanted to try everything! We ended up having the classic nachos and the jackfruit with hoisin sauce and pancakes, followed by banoffee pie. The food was delicious, and arrived quickly - it was beautifully presented too! All in all, we couldn't have been happier and we will definitely be back the next time we meet up. It's wotth moving to Newcastle just to eat here!! The wine we had was lovely too - all in all, it was amazing, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The staff were lovely too - very helpful and attentive.

Nice junk food restaurant - Edit
Nice atmosphere, nice crowd, nice staff. Food was good but apart from a few exceptions it wasn't very creative, the sort of stuff you'd find as the vegetarian option in any other restaurant.

Outstanding vegan food! - Edit
Almost totally vegan with a few dishes offering a vegetarian cheese option. The food was amazing, I ordered the jackfruit kebab and it was huge!
Read moreStarters are on the small side and the dessert was a bit small too, but by that time I was already pretty full. They only have a very limited number of wines (one white, one rose, one red) but a good selection of beer and cider and a large cocktail menu.
Going mid-week it wasn't busy, which was a surprise because when we booked they said they'd need the table back in 2 hours. The service was very quick though and the food didn't last long.
The decor is more simple and casual than upmarket with black and white photos of musicians / popular bands over the years and a more wood and Mexican look around the bar area. I definitely prefer this to the shine look of restaurants that are part of a chain.
The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and all on the ground floor, although the road surface outside wasn't fantastic. The disabled toilet is quite rectangular and doesn't have the space to transfer from the side that some people may need but there's nothing that could be done about that. Thankfully the was plenty of floor space for turning.
Pros: Excellent vegan choice, Amazing food , Fast & friendly service
Cons: There's only one , Limited wine choice
